Plus Size Fashion Tips: What’s Hot this Summer

The sun is sizzling, and so will you this season! A lot of trendy, fun and colourful styles are in fashion at the moment: follow our guide which highlights what’s hot in the plus size fashion scene for summer 2005.

This summer it's all about the subtle touches that give an outfit that extra something. Try and put in a touch of glitter into your style to give yourself some allure and shine.

Halters are back in girls. Do not feel shy to expose those shoulders! Just make sure you are protected with a good sun-protection lotion, this is very important ladies. Spin around in trendy summer styles by mixing and matching up different items with halter-neck tops. You can see a good example of a perfect colored halter top at Torrid.com: in stock at the moment they have a brown halter-neck, which can be easily matched up with a pair of jeans, trousers, skirt or capris pants!

Green is a particularly popular colour this season, so go for chocolate, gold and forestry colors which can easily be matched with green.

Accessories should be an important part of your wardrobe this season also: be ready to stock up on some fun, exotic and feathery earrings, necklaces and bracelets. What’s very popular are peacock feather earrings.

And don’t forget those trendy pair of metal sunglasses! Besides protecting your eyes from the blazing sun, I think sunglasses are a vital part of a summer outfit, as they complete a look and style. Retro and metal styled sunglasses are sizzling hot this season.

Home made body scrub

Home made body scrub

Treat yourself to a heavenly home made lavender sea salt scrub the next time you shower. Let it ease the stress, smoothen and soften your skin and leave you with beautiful, fragrant skin.

It is really easy to make your own scrub. All you need is a good cold pressed vegetable oil. You could use cold pressed olive oil from the supermarket, sweet almond oil or any unscented carrier oil for aromatherapy.

Next, you need same sea salt. If you want something that really exfoliates rough skin, get coarse sea salt. If you want to pamper yourself with something that is not so rough, then go for fine sea salt.

Finally, you need some pure essential lavender oil.

Now take a clean dry jar.

Pour in half a cup of sea salt and half a cup your chosen oil into the jar. Then add 10 drops of pure lavender essential oil. Stir well.

That's it. That is your lavender sea salt scrub.

Use your scrub in the shower, right after showering and rinsing off all the soap, apply this home made scrub all over your wet body. Massage the scrub into your skin to exfoliate and smoothen your skin. Then rinse off the scrub in the shower and pat dry with a towel.

The oil in the scrub leaves your skin soft, smooth and moist.

Guide To Buy Jewelry Online

Guide To Buy Jewelry Online

According to Goldman Sachs, Harris Interactive, and Nielsen/NetRatings, Christmas online jewelry sales more than doubled, hitting a new record of $1.89 billion, up from $888 million last year. The jewelry sector becomes the highest riser in today’s booming online shipping. If you type “jewelry” or “diamond rings” on Google, a few hundred of jewelry retail websites comes out. To do research online before purchasing is very important.

Three things consumers look for are quality, price and customer service. Good websites always states everything clearly. Blue Nile clearly states out the color, clarity, numbers of diamonds, total diamond weight, setting type, metal, and width in their diamond ring pages. There are websites stating their diamond color is F/H and clarity is VVS/VS. F color, VVS1 clarity stones are very different and much more expensive than H color and VS2 stones. How can consumers be clear with the quality they are getting?

We can see that most websites have good returning policy, and the big ones offer up to 30 days returning policy. This is the most important service for online jewelry stores. Good returning policy shows the website confident with their quality and service. It covers a lot of potential risk of online jewelry shopping. Mondera, Ice and Diamond.com all provide very good customer service. Unless you are very confident and familiar with the jewelry website, purchasing from any one with poor returning policy is risky.

One of the major reasons consumers purchase jewelries online, especially high end diamond pieces, is because of the price. With sufficient amount of research, you truly can purchase some high quality jewelries at 30%-60% off the retail market price. We should first understand these jewelry websites’ business model. Many of the sites are run by previous retail jewelers. They have many years’ experience and connections in the industry. They memo jewelry pieces and diamonds from wholesale vendors in New York or Los Angeles, add a margin and resell them out. Some jewelry sites are run by students fresh out of college. They create great websites, and get their vendors drop shipping directly to their consumers. Because they don’t have to pay high rent in expensive location, they don’t have the same high mark up as local jewelry stores. They highly threaten traditional jewelry stores, and with financial experts’ prediction, 1/3 of the traditional jewelry stores will either disappear or go on line in the next 5 years. Recently, I have found few companies take it to a new step. Like Dell, they manufacture jewelries and sell them directly through their website. Their prices are surprisingly low. http://www.nicerings.com is one of them. For the same high quality diamond jewelry pieces, their prices are almost 1/3 of the retail market price and ½ of other jewelry website’s price. With 30 days return guarantee and Free FedEx overnight, their existence speeds up the existing competitive jewelry industry. It is not surprising if we are going to see more and more jewelry wholesalers and manufacturers coming online in the next few years.

Jewelry educational and price comparison sites are very helpful for online jewelry shoppers. Out of them, http://www.pricescope.com offers a very profound education about diamonds; and you can find very good answers to your jewelry questions in their forums.

Bridal Hair Stylist Goes Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

Bridal Hair Stylist Goes Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

Bridal Hair Stylist Goes Above and Beyond the Call of Duty

What you should look for in selecting your wedding hair stylist

By Perriann Rodriguez

You are locked in your seat on the most famous roller coaster in the world, the Cyclone in Brooklyn, New York. Your fiancé is right next to you, both of you dressed in wedding attire. As you go up the steep climb the preacher, who is seated behind you, begins reading your vows. At the pinnacle of the climb, you are pronounced Mr. and Mrs., only to let out a loud scream as you plummet almost 60 miles per hour at a 60 degree incline. On the second time around, your hair stylist, who is seated next to the preacher, reaches over and fixes a few hairs that have fallen out of place in your fancy bridal updo…

Okay, so the hair stylist didn’t actually sit behind you next to the preacher, but other than a few other minor details this is a true story for Gretchen Maurer, an on-location wedding day hair and make-up specialist. She has been taken to many places throughout New England from Connecticut to Pennsylvania, Newport, Rhode Island, Manhattan and New York State with her bridal clients, including many different venues such as the Cyclone roller coaster, Bed & Breakfast Inns, small homes, even elaborate country clubs.

There are many important qualities that a top wedding hair stylist must have in order to have a thriving bridal beauty business which includes satisfied bridal clients. These include being flexible, being able to determine face shape and designing a hair style to suit, knowing the latest trends and fashions, continuous training and education in formal hair styling, being on-time and also having the ability to assess a women’s overall image

Maurer began doing bridal hair right in hairdressing school in the early 80’s. “I loved the sculpturing, balance and texture that bridal hair design challenges me with,” she says. “The key to being successful in the bridal business,” says Maurer “is the ability to read a woman’s style and face shape so that I can design a balanced look for the total image and balance the bride from head to toe.” Maurer first looks at pictures of the bride’s dress, considers the time of day of the wedding, then she moves on to face shape, ethnic heritage, personal image, hair type and length, headpiece and puts it all together in a fabulous bridal hair style designed specifically for each individual bride.

Face shape knowledge is very important for a hair stylist. Maurer says, “I have a new bride coming up who has a heart shape face. This means a broad forehead and temple area with a small chin. Plus she is very petite. So a low chignon in the back is a perfect balance for her.” Maurer adds, “Height will come from her tiara and veil.” Face shape is used in the hair style selection process since one style may look great on someone who has an oval face, but simply awful on someone with a square face. This is also an important factor for brides who bring in hair style photos they like from magazines. Some stylists will simply create the hair style for you, disregarding the fact that the photo, for example, may show a model with a heart face shape, and you may have a round face shape.

Maurer recommends that her clients bring in sample photos of hair styles that they like, along with any other photos such as photos of brides dresses, headpieces, tiaras, etc. so that she can get an overall sense of the brides likes and dislikes. From there she can design a hair style that suits the bride’s overall image. Staying in tune with fashion trends and styles that her clients like is very important in the overall bridal look.

The age of the bride is also very important in the design of the bridal style. A bridal hair style will be very different for women in their 30’s or 40’s compared to women in their 20’s. Maurer says, “I have a freelance team of hair stylists that I work with and I always try to give the younger bridesmaids to the younger hair stylists.”

Maurer has expanded her bridal business beyond the salon in her website, www.weddinghair.com by offering a broad spectrum of wedding hairstyles designs and hair lengths and textures that the bride can pick out and order a hair kit. The hair kit is simply the hairstyle photographed step by step with directions and many after shots. Some brides will try to do the hairstyle themselves, some will have a friend or family member do it and some will take the hair kit to the salon and have a professional stylist do the wedding hair style. Maurer says, “Brides, for the most part have never been a bride. They need help choosing a look and www.weddinghair.com is designed to do just that. The hairstyles represent a broad spectrum of designs and hair lengths and textures. My articles also provide useful information. It is a one of its kind website.”

In short, selecting your wedding hair stylist is an important part of creating your overall wedding look. Gretchen Maurer, and her website www.weddinghair.com , gives us insight into what a successful wedding hair stylist goes thru for each bridal client and what you should look for in selecting your stylist.

Epic Treadmills – Good Value Or Not?

Epic Treadmills – Good Value Or Not?

Epic treadmills are well known in the treadmill market for their budget range of treadmills. Epic treadmills are one of the lines of treadmills manufactured by Icon fitness, the largest of all the fitness equipment manufacturers and the company which manufactures, amongst others, Proform treadmills.

Icon has over $1 billion of sales of fitness equipment worldwide so is a substantial manufacturer. It manufactures reasonable quality machines for the lower end of the market but doesn’t compete with the much more expensive brands at the upper end.

Epic treadmills are sold by Costco, the discount gym equipment retailer (amongst others) so you should expect low prices.

The most well known of all the epic treadmills is the epic t60 treadmill. In fact this treadmill is really the only model amongst the epic treadmill range that is well recognised.

One of the reasons for this is that the epic t 60 treadmill is well rated by some of the nets treadmills rating sites as a good value buy. And the epic t 60 is therefore a good seller.

The treadmill doctor rated the epic t60 a “best buy” in the price range $500 to $1000, however noted some deficiencies in the treadmill none the less. In particular they noted problems with the keypad and the rollers, but you’re not going to get the perfect treadmill for under $1000.

The epic t60 has a powerful motor. It has a good cushioned running platform and can accommodate runners up to 350 lbs. It has an impressive range of user features including iFit technology, an interactive feature that Icon put on their Proform treadmills as well.

With iFit your workout becomes more interesting. Hook up to the internet and track your fitness and progress. iFit will devise a personal workout program for you, so that each time you set foot on your treadmill, you will have a new goal to reach, and a personal best to beat. Competing with yourself is a great way to increase the challenge.

iFit technology also allows you listen to music as you workout, and
provides inspirational images that can be the backdrop to your run.

And the epic t60 allows you to fold it away after you have done your workout. This is a worthwhile feature as treadmills are very large pieces of equipment and take up a lot of space.

The epic t60 treadmill boasts a worthwhile warranty on the motor, but not necessarily on the rest of the treadmill. A 12 year warranty on the motor is good, but 90 days for the rest isn’t so good.

Epic treadmills aren’t known for long warranties.

But are epic treadmills the best value? There is no point in buying an epic treadmill merely for a great price if it isn’t the best value.

And good value isn’t just a case of a good price. Customer service and warranty come into it too. And on those the epic treadmills tend to fall down a little.

So if you are looking for an epic treadmill, or even an epic t 60, there’s something to think about. Don’t dismiss them out of hand, however, they are good treadmills for the price, just not as well supported as they could be. And if you can buy an extended warranty with the treadmill at a reasonable price then this would be worthwhile.

Where do you buy them? Well they are available at Costco, but the range is very limited. And at the time of writing the epic t60 treadmill is not listed for sale at Costco. That’s something else to think about. If you really want one then try and find out why they don’t seem to offer them at the moment. This may of course change though.

THE ART OF MAKE UP!!

THE ART OF MAKE UP!!

Like fashion, make-up trends keep changing. But, the basic human desire to apply colors to decorate the face has remained constant. Trends in makeup are actually indicative of the beauty ideals of the times. The 'Natural Look' of today, for instance, reflects the universal swing towards nature and all things natural. For the real art of make-up refer http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/make-up.htm .

Applying Make-up

Knowing what is just right for you is the key to applying make-up. You have to take so many aspects into consideration... your age, your skin tone, type and texture, your facial features, the clothes you will be wearing, your plus and minus points. The best thing about today is that you can play around with colors, and cosmetics to achieve the look that suits you best.

Concepts Of Skin Care

Concepts Of Skin Care

The concept of beauty itself has undergone such a transformation, that it is little wonder that the change has been felt in the field of cosmetology as well. The emphasis has gradually shifted from camouflage of defects, to a more comprehensive art, which involves both preventive and corrective care of the skin.

It is founded on the idea that many skin problems can be avoided by taking a few simple precautions; believing in other words, in the maxim that 'prevention is better than cure.' Attention is also being paid to the ingredients in cosmetics, to achieve the best results. Refer http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/skin-care.htm for complete skin care routine and tips.

Skin care concept #1. Growing old, Staying young

One factor that has influenced the modern approach to beauty is the human desire to delay all signs of ageing for as long as possible. And no other organ of the body reveals age as much as the skin does. For complete detail on dry skin (see http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/dry-skin-remedy.htm) , for oily skin ( http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/oily-skin-remedy.htm ) , for sensitive skin ( http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/sensitive-skin-care.htm ) . Modern skin has changed all this. Today, a person whose good looks have proved durable, need not depend on heredity or a substantial bank balance. Skin care is now within the reach of everyone. All one needs is an awareness of the methods and products that are available, and relate them to individual needs.

Skin care concept #2. Moisture is Life

As knowledge about the skin and its cosmetic needs have grown, it has been found that aged and prematurely aged skins have one thing in common - a lack of moisture. A youthful skin, on the other hand, is soft and moist, proving how important moisture is to the skin. The amount of moisture that the skin holds determines its texture to a great extent - weather it is soft and smooth, or dry, rough, creepy and covered with fine lines. The skin loses moisture to the environment, when humidity is low, or is lowered by artificial means. Make your own homemade moisturizers easily learn how - http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/homemade-moisturizer.htm

Skin care concept #3. Essential 4-step Skin care routine

Learn it here http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/skin-step.htm
Skin care concept #4. Prevention is better than Cure

Between prevention and corrective care, the former is much simpler and less time-consuming. Corrective skin-care, of course, spells hope for people with specific problems that detract from beauty. With preventive care, the earlier you start, the better and longer lasting are the results. The texture of one skin is different form another and so are its other characteristics. Get all information on skin types at http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/skin-type.htm . Therefore, its needs are also different.

For the detail and depth knowledge of all skin problems and their treatments refer http://www.cosmeticsdiary.com/skin-disorders.htm .

Wedding Dresses - How to Select the Best One for You

Wedding Dresses - How to Select the Best One for You

Every bride would agree that her wedding dress should be perfect - not only does she want to look her best, on her special day, but her wedding dress also is the center of everybody’s attention. But how would you select the best one for you? Here is advice about selecting the best dress for your wedding.

Your wedding dress style should much the wedding style

Do you plan a very formal wedding in a cathedral or is it going to be an informal beach ceremony? Before deciding on the dress, you should decide how formal your wedding is going to be. A long and puffy princess style wedding dress is no longer your only option - informal weddings and beach weddings are progressively becoming more popular. So now you can find all kinds of cheap wedding dresses - short or tea length dresses, colored wedding dresses and even white sarongs, for a Hawaiian wedding. See diferent wedding dresses styles at http://www.cheap-wedding-dresses.info/

One advantage to an informal wedding dress is that it is much cheaper and more comfortable. Also, while a formal wedding gown almost always needs serious alteration, an informal dress is much easier to fit. So if you don’t have that much time left before you wedding, an informal dress could be a good choice.

How to chose the right bridal salon.

If you want to find the best dress, you will need to spend a couple of days visiting different salons. However, before you visit a bridal shop it is a good idea to call them and ask a few questions - this will save you trips to places that would only waste your time. When ringing a bridal salon you should ask:

- Can you just come to the shop or is an appointment required?
- What dresses styles do they have and what is the price range?
- Are alterations free and, if not, how much do they cost?
- If they don’t have dresses in your size, can one be ordered?
- Do they also carry bridal accessories, like hair decorations, veils and shoes?
- Can they hold a dress you like for a couple of days?

When you get to the shop, try as many dresses as necessary, until you find the perfect one. Don’t listen to the sales person, when they say that the first dress you try on is great and you should take it. Remember they want to sell the dress and it is their job to say it looks great, even if in fact it is hideous.

When you finally find the dress that you always dreamed of, ask them to put it on hold; don’t let them convince you that you should buy it straightaway. Return to the shop the next day and look at your dress again - you would be amazed how often something that seemed perfect, after trying on 10 different dresses, won’t impress you when you see it with a fresh eye. However, if you look at your dress again and feel “yes this is the one”, than it is time to buy it.

Color Contact Lenses for Light Eyes - What Works Best?

Color Contact Lenses for Light Eyes - What Works Best?

You may ask why a person with naturally blue or green eyes would want to wear color contact lenses? One reason is to make the natural color look brighter and more defined. Another reason is to change the hue just a bit - ad a touch of emerald to naturally blue eyes, for instance, and you will get a beautiful aquamarine.

All color contacts can be separated into two types - enhancement color lenses and opaque color lenses. Both will work for people with light eyes, although enhancers would be the smarter choice.

Enhancement color lenses are about 70-80% transparent. They are designed not to change your natural eye color, but to brighten it, making your eyes appear more interesting. Since the lens is partially transparent and the natural pattern of your iris is visible through it, enhancers look very natural. See chart of color contact lenses http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/color-contact-lenses.html

If you have gray eyes and you want to give them a tint of blue or green, enhancement lenses would do the trick. However, don't expect dramatic changes.

Since enhancement color lenses are partially transparent, they would look very different on different people. Don't pay to much attention to how the model who wears the sample looks, because it is likely that on you the lenses will have a different effect.

Most contact lens manufacturers present enhancement color contact lenses collections. Here are several that get the most favorable consumer reviews.

Freshlook by Ciba Vision offers two collections for light eyes - Freshlook Radiance and Freshlook Dimensions. Freshlook Radiance are enhancement color lenses that make your eyes appear shining. They can also change your natural color substantially. The colors offered are Moonlight, Autumn and Eden. See pictures of people wearing Freshlook color contacts at http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/freshlook-contacts.html

Freshlook Dimensions are unique lenses that make your eyes appear larger and create depth, as well as make your natural color more vivid. Dimensions are lighter than Radiance and come in Aqua, Sea Green and Pacific Blue. Both Freshlook Radiance and Freshlook Dimensions are monthly disposable lenses.

Acuvue 2 Colors enhancers is another option. They come in Ocean Blue, Aquamarine and Emerald Green. Acuvue 2 Colors are 2-week disposable contacts; they are very thin and most wearers say that it doesn't feel like you're wearing anything in your eyes.

The lighter your eyes, the bigger the impact that enhancement color lenses will have on them. If your eyes are medium gray, blue or hazel the effect will be hardly noticeable. For dramatic change, you will need opaque color contacts.

Color Contact Lenses - Do They Work on Dark Eyes?

Color Contact Lenses - Do They Work on Dark Eyes?

Do you want to change dark eye color to something different, but you are unsure if color contacts will work for your eyes? If you have brown eyes and tried color contact lenses several years ago, you were probably disappointed. Color contacts of the previous generation ether gave your eye color only a very slight change or your eyes looked blue but completely unnatural.

Creating color lenses that would truly transform brown eyes into sky blue or emerald green is a very difficult task, but modern color contact lenses can do it. The trick is to select the lenses that would work for you.

There are two types of color contacts - enhancement color contacts and opaque color lenses. Enhancers usually come in different shades of blue, green and gray and are designed to make your natural eye color look brighter. They are translucent and create a natural-looking effect. Unfortunately, enhancement color contacts work only for light eyes. Over brown eyes, enhancers would be either completely invisible or create only a very light tint that was not enough to change your color.

Opaque color contacts, on the other side, are specially designed for brown eyes. As the name suggests, they aren't transparent; only the center of the lens is clear, so you can still see. Opaque lenses aren't solid color, of course: they simulate the natural pattern of a human eye. See comparison of color contacts for dark eyes at http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/color-contacts.html

However, not all opaque color contacts do a good job of recreating a natural pattern. Here, I will highlight the brands that create a vivid, but natural-looking, effect.

Freshlook Colorblends by Ciba Vision looks very realistic, because the base color for each lens is actually a mix of three different shades - just as it usually is in the human iris. The lens is lighter toward the middle and darker at the edge, with a pattern imprinted on it. The color created is vivid, but dark, so Freshlook Colorblends won't make your eyes appear light. Freshlook Colorblends are monthly disposable color lenses. In my opinion, Amethyst and True Sapphire are their best colors. See pictures of Freshlook color contacts at http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/freshlook-colorblends.html

Acuvue 2 Colors Opaques also create a beautiful, realistic effect. Like all Acuvue contacts, Acuvue 2 Colors is a comfortable lens. The lenses are designed to be replaced every two weeks - this is what the "2" in the name means. Acuvue 2 Colors is manufactured by Johnson ' Johnson.

Illusions, also by Ciba Vision, can transform your brown eyes into light blue or green. The effect they create is truly amazing. One drawback of Illusions, though, is that they are traditional, annual replacement contact lenses, which means that they are thicker and not as comfortable as Freshlook or Acuvue.

Problems opaque color contact lenses can create.

One proble is that a lens can slip a little on your eye, so part of your brown iris is visible. Most people, however, don’t worry about it, because the brown is visible only under close scrutiny; otherwise, it blends with the black of your pupil.

Another problem is that opaque color lens might affect your vision. As you know, pupils get larger or smaller, depending on the lighting conditions - it is smallest under a bright light and largest in the dark. Since the clear part of color contact lens isn't adjustable, in low light situations, part of your pupil will be covered by the opaque lens and your vision will be decreased. It doesn't mean that you won't be able to see in the dark, just not as well as you would see if you weren't wearing your contacts. For this reason, driving at night while wearing your color contacts isn't recommended - at least, not until you know for sure how they affect your eyes.

If you wonder how you will look with different eye colors, give color contacts a try. Eyes are the focal point of your look, and you would be amazed how different you appear with eyes of a different color.

The History of Ugg Boots

The History of Ugg Boots

From Australia's Official Dictionary: The Macquarie Concise Dictionary - ugg boot / Australian 100% merino sheepskin lined boot. Also called ugh boot , ugg boot.

Did you know that Australian Sheepskin Ugg boots have always been called Ug, Ugh or Ugg boots and have been made in Australia for almost 200 years? "We always called them Uggs, Smith says, "long before it was a trademarked brand." Brian Smith, Founder UGG Holdings, Inc. Los Angeles Magazine October 1st, 2001

The Ugg Boot Story

The original Ugg Boot. "Ug," (also spelled "Ugg" and "Ugh" in Australian dictionaries) is not a brand name but an age old generic term for this style of Australian-made sheepskin boot. In Aussie slang, the Ug name is short for "ugly." In terms of comfort, however, the Ug Boot is a thing of beauty. The softness of the Australian Merino sheepskin produces a boot with a snug, cozy, form-fitting feel that’s more like a sock than a shoe, yet it’s rugged enough for outdoor wear. The fleece lining has the astonishing property of providing year-round comfort. In cold weather, the plush fleece provides an insulating layer of warmth by trapping your body heat, much like goose down does. But in the heat of summer, the natural fibers of the fleece actually cool your feet by wicking away perspiration.

Growing Up in Uggs

By the 1970s, in Perth, the largest city on Australia’s West Coast, Ug boots were being manufactured by several small companies in the area. Perth has much the same climate as Southern California and is also a haven for surfers, whom Aussies call "surfies." And it was the community of surfies at the great surfing beaches at Margaret River near Perth who first
adopted Ug Boots as their footwear of choice and made them a symbol of the Aussie surfing lifestyle.

Ugg Fever Spreads

From the beaches of Western Australia, Ugs were soon seen on the feet of East Coast surfers from Brisbane to Sydney. And it wasn’t long before some of these surfers -- the ones who traded their surfboards for skis in the winter -- found that their Ug Boots were just as at home in the ski resort areas of the Snowy Mountains as they were on the warm sands of Sydney’s Bondi Beach.

It was Aussie surfers, traveling the world in search of the perfect wave, who first introduced their mates in Southern California to the pleasures of the Ug Boot. Ugs soon became a cult fashion among those L.A. surfers who could depend on a buddy ‘down under" to send them a pair of boots.

Ugg Essentials

Today the Ug "secret" is out. You’ll find these versatile boots to be in fashion on beaches from San Diego to Santa Cruz and in ski resorts from Tahoe to Vail. And today, you don’t have to "know someone" in Australia who will send you a pair, since there are now a number of companies importing boots of this type. But, if you want the genuine article, you do have to know what you’re looking for because, no matter how they spell it -- Ug, Ugg or Ugh -- there are several importers with look-alike products that fall short of being the real thing.

If you want genuine Ugg Boots -- well-made boots with all the qualities that made the original so desirable -- you’ll want to make sure that.....

The boots are made from 100% Australian Merino Sheepskin. This will ensure your purchase is made of the finest Sheepskin hide avaliable.

Please Note:

Beware of very cheap imitations... quite a few boots on the market are made of cow suede with sawn on sheepskin inner fleece off cuts.... Don't take the chance and purchase these boots.... the external cow suede does not breath like 100% sheepskin does and will leave you with a smelly sweaty boot... But I must say these boots do look like the real thing but just don't
cut the mustard when compared to authentic ugg boots.

A Brief History of Tattooing

A Brief History of Tattooing

Because the historical and archaeological records of most forms of body art are incomplete, we still don't know where and where tattooing originated.

Tattooed mummies provide the earliest concrete evidence of tattoo, and these have been found in various parts of the world, from Nubia to Peru. Probably t he most ancient tattooed man is the "Iceman", a Bronze Age man uncovered after being frozen in a glacier on the Tyrolean Alps since 3000 B.C. A tattooed band of stripes was found on his lower back, a simple cross on the inside of his left knee and more stripes on his right ankle.

There are many examples of tattooing in ancient Egypt, the oldest found on the mummy of Egyptian priestess of the goddess Hathor at Thebes, Amunet, who lived approximately 4000 years ago, she was tattooed with parallel lines of dots. Because of her religious status, some archaeologists have speculated that her body art had spiritual or magical connotations. Others feel the designs were of sexual nature.

Some of the most diverse, ornate, and bizarre body art was found in the mysterious and complex world of Maya between 300 and 900 A.D. For Maya, body modification, whether temporary or permanent, were done for spiritual reasons as well as beautification. Full body tattoos or facial tattoos, were acquired by men and women.

When Captain James Cook set sail in his Endeavor in 1769, he visited many islands of Pacific Ocean, most of which included tattooing as part of their culture. It's Cook who gave us the "tattoo" word based on similar words in Polynesian cultures that were used to describe the practice.

On board the Endeavor was Sir Joseph Banks. Along with cataloging many types of animal and plant life, Banks documented the indigenous cultures at every stop along the way. Included in these notes are many references to tattooing. When Banks returned to England in 1771, he disembarked with a permanent memento of his voyage: the very fist tattoo on a modern Western man!

On December 8,1891, the first electric tattoo machine was registered by inventor Samuel O'Reilly, at the United States Patent Office. He began working out of a barber shop in New York City, calling his business a "tattoo parlor" - the first tattoo studio in the United States.

Soon tattoo parlors were springing up all over the country. During the First and Second World Wars, different branches of military adopted tattooing as a means of mystical protection, a souvenir or remembrance.

In the mid-1970s, tattooists began holding tattoo conventions. Tattoo artists from all over the countries gathered together as a group to talk shop and show off their work.

Due to the conventions, magazines, and other kinds of exposure, tattooing began to emerge as a form of fashion. People started to recognize its artistic merit and use it as a way to express personality and religious belief.

Charles Darwin, in The Descent of Man, observed that "Not one great country can be named, in which the aborigines do not tattoo themselves." Ancient and modern peoples have used tattoos as means to a seemingly infinite number of ends.

Today we are experiencing one of the biggest revivals ever. The combination of technology, historical awareness and artistic ability has taken tattoo to heights never before imaged.

Twelve Ways To Look Slimmer Instantly

Twelve Ways To Look Slimmer Instantly

Do you have at least one garment in your closet that you never wear because it makes you look fat? Maybe you take it out and try it on every now and then but it still doesn't flatter. It doesn't matter what you weigh you can easily make yourself look fat with the wrong clothes. Learn these basic camouflage rules and you'll never make the same mistake again.

1. Avoid anything stiff. A stiff garment forms a square box around you. It doesn't fall into flattering loose folds but stands out on its own making even skinny people look large. Having a shape is important whatever your size.

2. The same goes for the large tents that we try to camouflage ourselves in. It doesn't work we just look larger. Shape is needed.

3. Other than in your accessories don't wear anything shiny. Shiny is great for jewelry, bags, decorative motifs, scarves, but not for a whole garment. Shine reflects the light making you look bigger and showing every curve and bump.

4. You know about avoiding horizontal stripes but are you aware of hidden stripes? A belt in a contrasting shade, large top pockets, contrasting ribbing on the bottom of a jersey? These are all stripes and can make you look larger than you wish. Look carefully at a garment to check for these design traps and avoid them.

5. Conversely, subtle vertical stripes are (usually) your friend. Find them in a garment's style and stitching, a deeply cut V-necked jacket, a silk scarf hanging loosely, long beads, the drape of pants or skirt etc.

6. But vertical stripes on tightly clinging leggings or pants are not flattering. The stripes follow your curves, emphasizing them cruelly.

7. Avoid bulky fabrics such as quilted parkas- these often offend on two counts, one by horizontally machined quilting and another by too much padding. They look enormous and so does anyone who wears them. Thick mohair jumpers are another fattener. Thinner fabrics, such as polar fleece, can be equally warm so there is no need to bulk up.

8. On the other hand don't buy cheap thin fabrics. A fabric must have enough body to hang well rather than clinging. Even T-Shirts in cheap thin fabrics look dreadful and they don't last as long so are not really cheaper. Buy fewer and buy quality.

9. Monochrome dressing is slimming and elegant. Dress in one color from top to toe, preferably a dark neutral. For interest vary textures or add color in your accessories. A plain black outfit with a turquoise silk scarf or bright pink earrings for example.

10. Don't wear frills and ruffles if you have passed your 10th birthday. They add bulk and look tacky.

11. Beware of clothes that are too small, they are fattening. Not only are they unflattering but wearing them makes you feel fat all day. If a garment is tight chuck it out or pack it away until it fits again.

12. If you have put on a pound or two don't forget to check your bra. Does it still fit? Its so easy to forget and to keep wearing a bra that fitted once. Badly fitting bras create horrible bulges across your back, treat yourself to a new one.

If you bear these tips in mind when shopping for clothes you will have a much better chance of losing a pound or two and looking great.

How Are Ugg Boots Are Made?

How Are Ugg Boots Are Made?

Well we all know about this Ugg Boots fashion craze that's hit the world don't we? Those ugly fluffy looking boots that originate from Australia. But how is the humble Ugg Boot made?

The number one essential factor needed for manufacturing a genuine Australian Ugg Boot is the material (the sheepskin hide).

You may be aware that their are plenty of different ugg boots styles popping up on the internet these days. If you do a few basic searches on the net you will find yourself a cheap pair of non-authentic uggs somewhere, but let me tell you 99% of ugg boots sold on the internet are made in china. China made Australian ugg boots? Hmm how doess that work? Anyway these China boots are maufactured using inferior sheepskin internal material and probably suede external material which doesn't allow the boot to breath and leaves you with a smelly boot you wont want to put back on after 4-5 wears.

These china made copies just dont stand up to the Genuine Australian Made Boot. So one things for sure if your interested in buying a pair of sheepskin ugg boots on the internet or anywhere for that matters, dont try to save a dollor or two when purchasing your boots?

If you want a boot that's warm in winter cool in summer then you must insist on a boot manufactured with Genuine Australian double faced Sheepskin preferbly Australian Merino Sheepskin.

One of the questions often asked about ugg boots is:

Do you have to really kill the poor sheep just to make a pair of sheepskin boots?

The answer is NO. Not one sheep has to be slaughted to obtain their hide and fleece. The sheepskins are shawn of the sheep back and the sheep regrow their fleece just like humans do hair. It's completely painless for the sheep. I've been told by a few old school ugg manufaturers that the sheep actually like the experience of feeling free and would prefer to be shawn rather than have to carry a thick thick woolen coat around with them in the hot Summer.

Once the sheepskin hides are taken from the sheep then the process of preparing the hide for manufacturers and ensuring the hides are up to export standard begins.

Woolskins are usually preserved with salt prior to being processed by tanneries. At the tannery the skins are processed in large vessels called paddles which vary in capacity from 3000 to 15000 litres. In contrast to hide processing, in woolskin processing mechanical action is kept to a minimum in order to minimise felting of the wool. Rotating blades on the paddles move the skins slowly and gently, and processing is performed at much higher float ratios (typically 20-35 litres of water per skin) than are used in hide processing.

Typically it takes about 10 working days for the skins to be tanned and finished ready to be cut into panels for ugg boots.

Step 1. Tanning/ Processing

Soaking (16 hours) - The skins are rinsed in cold water to remove excess salt and dirt from the wool and pelt. Rehydration (soaking) of the pelt takes place in a fresh cold water float overnight.

Fleshing - The skins are fleshed using a fleshing machine which removes excess fat and muscle tissue from the back of the skins. This allows for more rapid and complete penetration of chemicals in the later stages of processing, particularly during pickling and tanning.

Scouring (30-45 minutes) - Surfactants are used at 38oC to remove dirt and grease (lanolin) from the wool.

Pickling (16 hours) - Prior to tanning, the skins are pickled in a solution containing acid and salt. The salt is added to prevent swelling of the skins by the acid. The internal pH of the skins is lowered to approximately 2.8-3.0, thereby preparing the skins for penetration by the tanning agent.

Tanning (16 hours) - Tanning is generally achieved by using chromium salts which form cross-links with the collagen, stabilising the skin structure and preventing putrefaction. The tanning step is conducted at about 25oC and pH 2.5-3.0 to allow for penetration of the chrome. Once penetrated, the chrome is fixed to the collagen by raising the pH to about 3.6 using sodium bicarbonate, and heating to about 35-40oC. This step raises the shrinkage temperature of the skin from about 60oC to around 100oC.

Wool Dyeing / Fatliquoring (3-4 hours) - After tanning, the wool may be dyed a variety of colours. Wool dyeing is performed at about pH 4.5-6 and at 60-65oC, "Pelt reserve agents" being added to prevent the wool dye staining the pelt. After the dye
is exhausted, the pH is lowered to about 4.0 to fix the dyes to the wool, and fatliquor is added to the bath. Fatliquors are emulsified oils which are used in leather manufacture to lubricate the collagen fibres, allowing them to move freely when the skin is dried, thereby imparting softness to the skin.

Drying (4-24 hours) - Once tanned and wool dyed, the skins are then dried in heated forced-air dryers by "toggling" the skins to a frame. Drying is conducted at temperatures of 50-80oC.

Drycleaning (4-24 hours) - The dried skins are "drycleaned" in either white spirit (a high-boiling petroleum fraction) or perchloroethylene. The drycleaning removes the natural fat and grease present within the skins.

Pelt Dyeing / Syntanning - Once the pelt grease is removed, the skins are returned to the paddle for pelt dyeing. This step is performed at low temperature (less than 30oC) in order to minimise staining of the wool by the pelt dye. After pelt dyeing, the skins are "syntanned" using synthetic tanning agents in order to give the pelts added fullness and firmness. The skins are then redried.

Step 2. Finishing

Once all the tanning and processing steps have been completed, the skins are ready for final finishing prior to being used in ugg boot manufacture.

Staking - After "conditioning" the skins to approximately 20% moisture content, the skins are staked in a staking machine. This softens and stretches the skin pelt, and puts a "nap" on the pelt surface.

Combing / Ironing / Clipping - The wool is combed in a combing machine to remove tangles and any burrs or grass seeds present in the wool. An iron (a hot, 150oC revolving cylinder) straightens the wool, removing the natural wool crimp. Finally, a cylinder clipping machine is used to clip the wool pile to the desired length, usually about 12-15 mm.

Step 3. Manufacturing

Panels are cut from the skins using a "clicking press". Once cut, the panels are sewn together using industrial sewing machines, then the sole is glued to the boot. Once this is done, the boots are ready for sale!

Diamonds Make a Wondeful Gift

Diamonds Make a Wondeful Gift

Precious gems are beautiful and they last a long time and they are very valuable. Diamonds in particular shimmer in any kind of light, providing an exquisite treasure. Some people give a piece of diamond jewelry as the sole gem gift a loved one will ever receive. Others add a diamond gift to a long line of precious gems. Before bestowing diamonds as a gift to a loved one, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

Diamonds are usually very expensive. If you come across a diamond that is being sold on the cheap, you have to wonder why this is the case. It may mean that the cut is not the best quality or it could have poor point value. Perhaps the gem is even stolen! You have to be careful about where and how you purchase precious jewelry to ensure that you get your money's worth in value. Check with several jewelry stores or diamond dealers. State up front how much money you have to spend and the type of gift you wish to make. The experts can help you make a good choice for what you have to work with.

Diamonds are for grown ups. Children or even teenagers rarely have a proper appreciation for diamonds. Perhaps diamond chip earrings would be an acceptable gift for older teen girls, but more lavish diamond jewelry should be saved for more mature wearers. A diamond necklace, brooch, ring, or bracelet conveys a sense of sophistication that younger women cannot often carry off. Save the gift of diamonds for a special occasion and an older girl.

Diamonds deserve special care. You don’t want to just fling a diamond ring in the jewelry box or leave it lying unprotected on a`dresser top. Preserve the beauty and keep it clean while avoiding scratches by placing diamond jewelry into velvet-lined boxes or containers. Depending on the size and value of your investment, your diamonds may need to be kept in a safe deposit box or vault at your local bank. You don’t want nosy workers or desperate thieves to make off with your prized possession. You may want to have your diamond priced or valued by an experienced jeweler for home insurance purposes. It also is a good idea to have it cleaned periodically, if needed.

Diamonds are for special occasions. Although they are often given on any occasion like a birthday or holiday, a diamond jewelry item is especially suited to commemorative occasions, such as an engagement or anniversary. Smaller diamond gifts can serve just about any purpose, but the larger, more valuable kind should not be handed off lightly. Give some thought to the meaning of your gift and what your receiver will think (as well as what you want him or her to think) before offering this unique token of affection.

History of the Watch

History of the Watch

The earliest mention of the watch was in Shakespeare’s play "As You Like It." In the second act of the play one character produces a sun-dial from his pocket and muses about the time. Though at this time in history a true, portable timekeeping piece would have been too much of a hassle. Coming up with a powers source for the watch was impossible at this time. But in the 1500’s Peter Henlein from Germany created the first pocket watch. And from that point on portable timekeeping was part of the norm.

In the early 1600s, form watches came into being. Cases shaped like animals and objects and religious themed watches were the most popular. But cheap, portable clocks…watches…didn’t really come into wide spread use until 1780 when Abraham Louis Perrelet invented the self winding movement.

Watch making enters its prime period in the years that followed. In 1791, J.F. Bautte founded the watch company that would eventually become Girard-Perregaux. In 1820, Thomas Prest registers a patent for the self-winding watch. In 1833 Antoine LeCoultre started his own watch making business that would eventually become Jaeger-LeCoultre.

Other big names and when they were founded:

Minerva founded in 1858
Heuer founded in 1860
Zenith founded in 1865
Movado founded in 1881
Rolex founded in 1905
Citizen founded in 1918
Seiko founded in 1924

But probably the most innovative and best-selling watch of all time is the Timex. Timex created the Waterbury pocket watch in the 1880s and made affordable timekeeping a mainstay for the average man.

By the turn of the twentieth century, the watch industry's first and most successful mass marketer, Robert H. Ingersoll, worked with Waterbury Clock, a partner of Timex, to distribute the company's "Yankee" pocket watch, the first to cost just one dollar. Twenty years later, with nearly forty million sold, the "Yankee" became the world's largest seller and "the watch that made the dollar famous." Everyone carried the Yankee: from Mark Twain to miners, from farmers to factory workers, from office clerks to sales clerks. Throughout the rest of the 20th Century, Timex conquered the low-end market selling 500 million watches by the end of the 1970s.

And the watch market has continued to grow and expand in the following years. With the introduction of the digital watch in 1972, watchmakers had brand new roads to explore in the area or portable timekeeping. It is now not so uncommon to find watches that can do everything under the sun from reading the wearer’s heart rate to playing music. But telling time is still the number-one priority.

So whether you’re more interested in the fashion statement your watch makes (Rolex, Heuer, Seiko) or the practicality of your watch (Timex, Casio, Citizen), there will always be numerous choices out there.

Hey, anyone know what time it is? I think I’m late.

How to Shop for Comfortable Pilates Workout Wear

How to Shop for Comfortable Pilates Workout Wear

Studies show that an estimated 60% of Americans do not receive the recommended amount of physical exercise per day. It is also estimated that of those 60% who are not active enough, there are 25% who are completely inactive on a daily basis. Being active is crucial to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and living a longer life. Perhaps, that’s why so many people have showed interest in Pilates. Pilates has taken over the workout world and has received so much hype because of the wonders it performs on the body. So now that you’ve decided to become a part of the whirlwind, let’s figure out what you’re going to wear.

Many individuals are confused as to what types of clothing are most appropriate for Pilates. Here is a list of criteria you might want to consider when shopping for Pilates workout wear:

• Comfortable Clothing - Comfort is key in Pilates. If you are not comfortable in what you are wearing you will be self-conscious and hesitant to perform some of the positions.

• Clothes that are body hugging - This means clothes that enables you to breathe and move, but not so loose that when you move around you are afraid of your shirt lifting or your tummy showing.

• Light and Airy Clothing - You do not want to show up to a Pilates class wearing huge track pants that weigh about as much as you do. You want your clothes to breathe. You are going to work up a sweat and therefore you want the lightest clothing possible.

• Stay Away from the Extras - Extra detailing, such as buttons and zippers, can cause discomfort during your workout and become painful if they are jammed into you when performing certain poses.

• Respect Your Classmates - Be respectful to others in the class and refrain from wearing any clothing which advertises sex, drugs, religion or otherwise as it may be offensive to other individuals taking the class.

Most of all, be comfortable and have fun! The clothing you choose is not as important as the fact that you are improving your lifestyle, creating a better life for yourself and setting a better example for others.

How to Choose a Comfortable Pair of Shoes

How to Choose a Comfortable Pair of Shoes

You've finally worn out those comfortable old shoes that you have been wearing for years. Finding a good pair of shoes is a bit like trying to find the perfect spouse; it takes a lot of looking around to find the perfect match. But shopping for shoes should not be a stressful experience. Here is a brief guide to help you find that perfect pair.

The first thing you need to decide on is your budget, as this will limit which brands and perhaps styles, you can buy. Many discount footwear stores have great sales, sometimes giving you up to 80% off the original price or even running two for the price of one sales. So, if you see sales like these, take advantage of them!

Once you've decided on your budget, you should think about what type of shoe you want to buy. Do you plan on being on your feet a lot? Do you want you shoes to be a fashion statement, or are you more of a 'sensible shoe' type of person? They are many new hot fashions this summer, ranging from dainty sandals to towering stilettos. While a pair of cute high heels may match your new skirt perfectly, they may not be right for you if you are going to on your feet, running around all day. So, make sure that you put some thought into where- and how long- you will be wearing them.

When it comes to actually trying on a pair of shoes, there are some general rules that you should try to follow. If you can, try the shoes on late in the day, as your feet tend to swell slightly as the day progresses. If you plan on wearing socks with the shoes, remember to bring a pair with you to the store, so that you can try on the shoes with them to give you an idea of how comfortable they will be.

Finding a comfortable pair of shoes should not be a challenge, especially if you know what to look for when buying them.

How to Spot a Fake Designer Purse or Handbag

How to Spot a Fake Designer Purse or Handbag

When you finally decide to dish out a large amount of cash for a handbag, you’ll want to make sure it’s the real thing you are purchasing and not a cheap knock-off. With the popularity of handbags at the present time, its no wonder so many companies are eager to produce knock-off versions of Gucci, Louis Vuitton and other high-fashion handbags. We want to make sure that you know when you are being ripped off so you can spend your well-earned money on something that is truly authentic. Here are some hints which will help you spot a fake designer handbag when you see one:

The Fabric

The fabric used to manufacture top-of-the-line brand name handbags is noticeably different than the material used for fakes. If there is wrong stitching or if the material is flawed in even the slightest manner, chances are it is not a name brand purse. High-fashion handbags will always have real materials, they will not use fake leather or fake animal skin and you will get the real deal 100 percent of the time.

Small Detailing

The great thing about authentic handbags is that they are unique and hours upon hours go into making each one exactly right. Designer handbags will often have extra stitching and detailing such as little diamonds, buckles or zippers which make them truly unique to any other designer. As noted above, the diamonds on name brand handbags will also be real 100 percent of the time.

Study the Celebrities

The best way to determine whether or not a handbag is a fake is by studying the real ones and the best way to do that is through celebrities. Celebrities will always have real name brand designer handbags. Most people recognize the design of Louis Vuitton purses because of Jessica Simpson and the hype she has created for the company. When you constantly see celebrities sporting specific types of handbags you will be more inclined in noticing the difference between real and fake ones.

Brand Name Labels

Many brand name handbag designers will put a custom label or logo on their items which indicate that they are authentic. The names sometimes appear on zippers or pockets and some companies like to put it in the same spot on every handbag to ensure their customers know it’s real.

It is important to know that you are getting what you pay for when it comes to designer handbags. If you’re instincts are telling you that the purse is a fake, chances are you’re probably right and its best to leave the bag where it lies. With the amount of money you are spending on these items, you want to make sure the bag you’re buying is authentic and worth every penny you are spending.

Handbag and Purse Trends 2005

Handbag and Purse Trends 2005

Handbags are becoming the most popular fashion accessory on the market. The popularity of handbags (especially in the last year) has taken everyone by storm including handbag manufacturers. There are so many styles and trends available on the market right now and the average woman now owns at least 3 purses. You can make the same outfit look completely different just by changing your handbag. If you are interested in handbags and would like to know the latest styles and trends for this summer, fall and winter, keep reading and you will find out everything you need to know.

These are the latest handbag trends and styles:

1. Big – Handbags used to be fairly small and you could barely fit all the things you needed in them but the lately the style is the bigger the better. When I say big handbags I mean handbags that look like overnight bags. Big handbags are not only in style because of the way they look but also because they are very practical and you can fit a large amount of stuff in one bag. You can even fit your lunch it in when you go to work. Big handbags are also available with little handbags to go inside or on their own. The smaller versions are great for bars and parties.

2. Colors – Traditionally blacks, browns and beiges were practically the only color deemed suitable for handbags. Well, that has completely changed over the past few years and handbags are now all about colors. For spring, turquoises and greens are the most popular. For fall it’s all about the oranges and reds and for winter it’s whites and blues. Black is still classic and very much acceptable, but colors add more personality and flare to your outfit.

3. Fruit Prints – If you keep up on the latest trends and styles then you will not be surprised to hear that fruit prints are in high demand right now. Many celebrities like Janet Jackson, Hilary Duff and Christina Milian have been seen sporting these prints and the trend has only seen the first glimpse of what is expected to come. Cherries are the most popular fruit prints on the market however apples, strawberries, peaches and many other forms of fruit have also made their mark on many handbag designs.

4. Multiple Prints – Multiple prints were popular a couple decades ago and are coming back into style as we speak. Multiple prints means a mix of any two (or more) prints, like a zebra print mixed with a leopard print. Individuals who are confident in themselves and who like to be noticed will opt for these types of handbags over all others.

5. Accessories – A handbag is an accessory in itself, however there are many ways to accessorize handbags as well. Handbags with jewels, buckles, zippers and other added details are very popular right now. Diamonds and other metallic detailing are in high demand as well, possibly from the hype which celebrities create over these types of handbags. A handbag can be easily “spruced up” by adding a few cool accessories.

Now that you know the latest trends and styles, picking out a handbag will be easy. Just remember it’s not all about what’s on the inside of the handbag, it’s how the handbag looks on the outside that counts.

Glow In the Dark Jewelry Trends

Glow In the Dark Jewelry Trends

Glow in the dark pieces of jewelry have become increasingly popular accessories for individuals of all ages. There are so many forms of glow in the dark jewelry that you could virtually light yourself up using only these accessories. This form of jewelry is fairly inexpensive (especially compared to most types of jewelry) and is meant to be used as fun and creative accessories that let your personality shine through. Some of the most popular glow in the dark items include glow bracelets, glow necklaces, glow pins and glow rings and each form of jewelry has its own unique characteristics.

Glow Bracelets

Glow bracelets are a fun and creative way to sport the latest form of glow in the dark jewelry and are great for parties that take place at night or in a bar. They come in a variety of colors including purple, pink and yellow and one glow bracelet can have up to 3 colors in one. Glow bracelets are fairly cheap and can be purchased for as little as 25 cents a bracelet when purchased in bulk or wholesale forms These bracelets usually only come in one size which fits almost any size of wrist.

Glow Necklaces

Glow necklaces are an extended form of glow bracelets. They are made with the exact same materials and come in the same colors; they are just bigger so they fit around your neck instead of your wrist. That said, they also cost more because they use more materials. A glow necklace may cost about 50 cents when purchased in bulk or wholesale form.

Glow Pins

Glow pins are the newest form of glow in the dark jewelry on the market and offer a wide selection of designs and styles to choose from. Glow pins are available in the form of pins, smiley faces, sports teams and even flags. These pins are not made from the same material as glow bracelets and necklaces, they light up using battery-powered LED lights. These are also considerably more expensive than glow necklaces and glow bracelets, however they last way longer and are less likely to get broken or damaged.

Glow Rings

Glow rings are not quite as popular as the other forms of jewelry listed above, perhaps because not as many people are aware that they exist. Glow rings come in many sizes and are great for parties and other fun events. Not only are there glow rings, but there are also glow earrings which can be purchased in many different shapes and designs. Glow rings can cost as little as $5 and glow earrings as little as $7, but they also have the potential to be quite expensive as well.

Glow jewelry is only expected to become more popular in the years to come and there are sure to be many new styles and innovations in this form of jewelry.

Disposable Color Contacts - Are They Any Good?

Disposable Color Contacts - Are They Any Good?

The days when color contacts were unbelievably expensive are long gone. As the manufacturing costs go down, disposable color contact lenses appear. These days you can find monthly, weekly and even daily disposable color contact lenses. But how do disposable color contacts compare with traditional color lenses, in terms of quality and health issues?

Disposable color contacts are a recent development, and they become progressively more popular. Sometimes it is not obvious whether the lenses are disposable or traditional (annual replacement schedule). The easiest way to spot the difference is to look at the package - if they are sold in a box (usually 6 lenses per box), then the lenses are disposable; if they are in a phial and the price is indicated per lens, then they are traditional color contact lenses.

Advantages of disposable color contacts

- The more often you replace your contact lenses, the healthier your eyes will be. So disposable color contacts are better, from the health point of view - they are thinner, more comfortable, and proteins don’t have enough time to build up on them.

- Trying different colors is easier, too, since you can buy 3 or 4 boxes of different disposable color contacts for the price of a pair of traditional color lenses.

- If you lose or break a disposable lens, no worries! Just take another one out of the box

However, the main difference between disposable color contacts and annual replacement (traditional) lenses is that high quality traditional lenses are hand painted. Hand painted color lenses like Illusions by CibaVision create a more natural look than digitally printed lenses. None of the disposable color lenses is hand painted - it simply is not cost effective for the manufacturer.

Best disposable color contacts

Freshlook is one of the more popular brands in disposable color contacts. Freshlook offers you three collections: Freshlook Colorblends - opaque color contacts for people with dark eyes; Freshlook Impressions, which are partially transparent enhancement lenses designed to brighten naturally blue or green eyes; and Freshlook Dimensions, the unique designs of which make your eyes appear larger and deeper. All Freshlook color lenses are monthly disposable.

Acuvue 2 Colors by Johnson and Johnson is also a good choice. Acuvue 2 Colors offers opaque color lenses, for people with dark eyes, as well as enhancement lenses, for light eyes. Acuvue 2 Colors are 1-2 week disposable color contact lenses. They are also FDA approved to be worn for a week continuously, which means that you can sleep in them.

Recently released 1 Day Acuvue Colors are the first daily disposable color contact lenses. They look the same as Acuvue 2 Colors opaque color lenses, but you don’t have to worry about cleaning, disinfecting and storing them. 1 Day Acuvue Colors are ideal for people who only want to wear color contacts for special occasions; this way, you can wear fresh lenses every time.

Expression Colors by Cooper Vision also comes as opaque colors, for dark eyes, and enhancement colors, for light eyes. Expression lenses are monthly disposable color contacts.

Prescriptions for color contact lenses

Most disposable color contact lenses come in plano (no correction) as well as with corrective powers. Sometime people think that if they have a perfect vision and want color contacts purely for cosmetic effect, they can just order a box online without consulting an optometrist. This is not true, though: all contact lenses - including plano color lenses - are medical devices, so you can’t buy color contact lenses without doctor’s prescription.

However, after getting your prescription, you don’t have to buy your color contacts from your optometrist. Many reputable contact lens retailers sell color contacts online and ordering your color lenses through the Internet can save you a lot of money.

Color Contact Lenses - Are They Safe?

Color Contact Lenses - Are They Safe?

Do you want to find out how you would look with blue, green or amethyst eyes? But you have heard that color contact lenses might cause problems? Here we will discuss how color contacts can affect the health of your eyes, and give you simple tips to follow so your color lenses never give you any troubles.

There are two main reasons why color contacts cause your eye problems, and both are easily avoidable. The first cause is buying color contacts of inferior quality without a doctor’s prescription; and the second is not caring properly for your color lenses.

Sometimes you see color contacts for sale in beauty salons and even in flea markets! You should never buy your lenses in these places. Color contacts aren’t fashion jewelry: most paints are very toxic, so the lenses should be properly manufactured, to avoid direct contact between the paint and the sensitive surface of your eye. Most color lenses sold without a doctor’s prescription fail to meet these requirements. They might look good and cost less than brand-name color contacts, but they are really dangerous for your eyes.

Since the second common cause of eye infections from wearing color lenses is not caring for them properly, you should always follow your doctor’s instructions about caring for your lenses.

Color contact lenses safety rules

If you follow these simple rules, your lenses will be no threat to the health of your eyes.

1. Obtain an eye doctor’s prescription before ordering your color contacts. Even if you don’t need vision correction, you need an eye doctor to select the lenses that would be best for you

2. It is cheaper to order your color contacts online than buying them from your doctor, but make sure that you order from a reputable contact lens retailer

3. Don’t wear your color contacts continuously for too long. Most color contacts block the flow of oxygen to your eyes. This is usually not a problem, though, if you wear your lenses only for 8-9 hours at a stretch, but any longer than that could cause problems.

4. Never sleep wearing your lenses - this is the most dangerous thing you can do, in terms of eye health. If your eyes don’t receive enough oxygen for days on end, then you are sure to suffer inflammation of the corneas. Some color contacts, like Acuvue 2 Colors, are FDA approved to wear for up to 7 days straight. However, many eye doctors agree that it is better not to risk your eyes even with the best quality color contacts

5. Don’t swim or shower wearing your color lenses. Firstly, it is very easy to lose a lens in the water. Secondly, whenever water gets into your eyes it creates favorable conditions for bacteria, putting you at risk of infection

6. Make sure you clean your lenses properly, and always keep your contacts in soft contact lens solution. You shouldn’t rub your color contacts while cleaning them, because it may damage the color. So it is best to use a no-rub multipurpose solution.

7. Never share your color contacts with other people. It might be very tempting to exchange color lenses with a friend but, unfortunately, it is a sure way to pick up an eye infection.

Color contact lenses are fun. As the saying goes, “The eyes are the mirror of the soul”, and it is amazing how much different eye colors can transform your appearance. Caring for your color lenses isn’t hard work - people who wear color contacts every day report that it takes them less than a minute to clean the lenses and put them in - so you should always follow the safety rules. If you do, then color contact lenses will bring you only joy, with no troubles.

The Kilt has been the target of many a joke and ribald comment for more years than it can probably remember!

But is it fair for it to be the butt of so many jokes?

After all, not only is the Kilt a recognised fashion item in it's own right, it's also more importantly a world recognized symbol of a country and the fierce national pride contained within!

Many a soldier has shuddered and shaken in fear in centuries gone when faced with a Scottish Warrior, kilt swirling in steadfast defiance of normality, broadsword or other razor sharp lethal weapon cutting huge scythes in the air as he charged.

Indeed, many fields of war were won purely by the arrival of Scotsmen dressed in their traditional tartan kilts. To many, the knowledge that the wearer wore nothing underneath was cause enough to panic! Add to this the ferocity of such a warrior and not many would stand up in front of them.

But ever since those heady days of hand to hand combat and battles fought face to face, some of the mystery and folklore of the Kilt remains. Ideas that you can only wear a Tartan Kilt if you are a member of that clan still abide today, wrongly in many cases.

Maybe this stops some people wearing a kilt?

Or does the fear of society's view of a man effectively wearing what many still describe as a skirt also play a strong part?

But then what of those men among us who are recognised as being the manliest of men? Does wearing a kilt reduce their appearance and reputation at all? Famous celebrities such as Sean Connery, Billy Connely, Ewan McGregor or Mel Gibson?

How many women did - and still would - swoon clean away to see Mel Gibson walking towards them, kilt swaying in time to his steps? I strongly suspect - most! It would not be a swoon induced by dislike or scorn neither, more of one where they're opinion has been enhanced as to the character and strength of the man involved.

I had the great pleasure of wearing a kilt many, many years ago when I was 6. The occasion was as a Page Boy for my Uncle and Aunts wedding. White ruffled shirt, red and blue tartan kilt with sporran and shoes. the only thing missing was the Dirk. For some reason never suitably explained by my parents, they seemed very nervous of letting their 6 year old offspring walk around with a small dagger shoved into the top of his sock! Spoilsports!

Even now, looking back at the old black and white photos - yes, it WAS that long ago - I get a thrill of seeing myself dressed like that.

Why?

Because it was different, unique and - dare I say it - I looked damn good! (I seem to remember it made a huge impression on my fellow official for the occasion, the bridesmaid called Candy, a curly blonde haired girl a year older than me. I have a misty memory of her asking her mom why i was wearing a skirt!)

A kilt nowadays plays a much larger part. Beyond the more well known kilts of Scotland with their heritage of history behind each unique Tartan design, comes the Kilts of Ireland and Wales in family crests or solid colors.

With society relaxing it's own strict and nonsensical ideas of what is right and what is wrong, more men are coming to wear kilts, enjoying the uniqueness and freedom such a garment gives.

It is now more common to attend company dinners, awards and opening nights and spot one or two men dressed in kilted splendour.

Indeed, a whole new industry is beginning to grow - assisted by the internet with it's ease of ordering and choosing - where new styles, designs and ideas of the traditional kilt are being tested and reworked.

For example, you can now buy kilts in camo pattern or kilts with pockets either side as opposed to the standard requirement for a sporran.

As for me and the kilt - as I get older and less worried about what other people think of me, the thoughts do stray to when I was 6 years old and how proud I felt dressed in such regal splendour. With the hot weather getting hotter each day a cooling breeze would certainly be more welcome as well!

Now then, where did I put that sporran and dirk?

Those Four Little Words, “You Need Reading Glasses”

Those Four Little Words, “You Need Reading Glasses”

It may not be as sure as death and taxes, but most of us aging baby boomers will be hearing those four little words, “you need reading glasses” from your eye care physician. What has happened to your perfect vision? Even if you were used to wearing glasses, it still can happen. This natural loss of vision making it difficult to read is called presbyopia. It may be time for bifocals if you already have a vision problem, but what if you have never worn glasses and all of a sudden you find yourself with arms too short? Reading glasses are the solution for you. You may have seen some in the drug stores, you know, those funny little glasses hanging next to the counter. They have different magnifications or plus powers that allow your eye to see close up again. If you are new to the eyeglasses world, you might want to be careful the first time you put them on. They can make you a little dizzy because most of the world out there will be blurry. They are just as the name implies; glasses for reading. Some people have problems walking and definitely don’t drive in them. You should also know that reading glasses characteristically focus in on a specific thing. When you look at a paper in front of you, you won’t be able to see clearly twelve to sixteen inches from the paper. This can also be tricky to adjust to. If this really is a problem for you, talk to your eye care physician about other things you can do.

Presbyopia can actually start occurring at age ten but usually doesn’t affect people until around forty. This is one of the fastest growing eye problems affecting us because the baby boomers are aging. As this demographic continues to age, you will see more people with reading glasses than ever before. You can’t prevent this problem and once you have it, it won’t go away. How do you know if you have this problem? You may be experiencing headaches, stinging or tearing eyes, or you feel like you don’t have enough light to see. The physician is the only one that can really tell you for certain if you have presbyopia. There are several options available if you have this problem. The first is magnification. Wearing reading glasses might be a vanity issue for you, so you might want to consider a credit card sized magnifying glass or possibly a lorgnette to wear around your neck. If you are on a hot date, and can’t read the menu, you have two choices. Have your date order for you, or pull out some type of magnifying device so you can read. Today, there is no reason why you should be afraid of wearing reading glasses. There are so many glam and trendy styles available on the market either online or in the stores. You can find the hottest reading glasses that make you look fabulous. Every color imaginable is available, and most people have a multitude of pairs in every nook and cranny of the home, office and car. If you are really dependent on reading glasses, you don’t want to be without them. For some great looks in reading glasses, check out http://www.contact-lenses-4u.net/reading_glasses.htm

Some people that are already wearing contact lenses can have this feature built in their lens. They get along quite well with this alternating vision. You can look straight ahead for distance, and then down to read. These lenses might be shaped a little differently with a flat portion being closest to the lower lid, or it may be weighted. This stops the contact from rotating so your vision doesn’t get blurry. As you can imagine, the fitting of this lens is different from the regular contact lenses and will take some adaptation. Simultaneous contacts allow you to see distant and near objects at the same time. The vision distances are in rings of the contact instead of top and bottom. Monovision lenses have one lens focused for distance and the other focused on near vision. These are less expensive, but aren’t for everyone. No matter which type of contact lens you choose, there will be some type of adjustment period, so be patient with yourself. Accept the fact that you just need a little help reading the hottest new best seller. You can still look fabulous while doing it.

The Eyes Have It

The Eyes Have It

Did you know Leonardo da Vinci sketched and described several forms of contact lenses in 1508, and in 1632 Rene Descartes suggested the possibility of a corneal contact lens? Civilization has come a long way from these early ideas to the high-tech advancements we have to care for our eyes today. We even have choices for improved vision other than through a contact lens or eyeglasses. LASIK surgical procedures are done on the eye and intended to reduce dependency on eyeglasses. It doesn’t promise perfect vision, but it offers convenient benefits to people that don’t want to put on glasses.

Millions of people are using gas permeable rigid contact lenses, extended wear, soft-lens, bifocal vision, a whole rainbow of color contacts, no-fuss disposables, and lenses that protect from UV rays. If eyeglasses are more your style, you have never had a bigger selection than what is on the market today. Make a bold statement with colors of eyeglass frames or let the frames blend into your face. I have four different colors of eyeglasses and I plan on buying more. If all of these options become tiresome, you might choose the LASIK surgery where your eye should become less dependent on glasses and you will have the convenience of not wearing anything on your face unless you want to. Wouldn’t it be nice to wake up in the morning and be able to see everything clearly without putting on glasses?

Color cares for the eyes
Color contacts are fun and you can present a different personality to the world. Did you always want to be a blond with blue eyes - how about a red head with green eyes? Now you can because of the many choices available. Designer eyeglasses are in vogue so why not buy different eyeglass frames and treat them as jewelry, watches or other accessories that match your clothing? You might be looking for a fabulous pair of reading glasses to bring out in a restaurant. There are even styles of lorgnettes that you can stylishly wear around you neck, and use them as a magnifying glass when the need arose. If you have woodworking or remodeling projects to do at home, don’t forget about safety glasses. They are also more fashionable, comfortable and functional than ever before. It doesn’t matter if it is for fashion, fun or function; take the time to properly care for your eyes.

Safety Glasses Can Be Fashionable

Safety Glasses Can Be Fashionable

Safety glasses have evolved from the days of poorly fitting plastic protection we used to put on our eyes. Today, we expect more from eyewear and eyeglass manufacturers and the same is true for the companies that produce glasses for safety. It’s not enough for protective or safety eyewear to be of tempered glass or plastic, having temple and side shields for maximum coverage. These safety eyeglasses must be stylish, well fitting, and come in different colors too. Employees all over the world actually enjoy wearing their protective glasses making it a win win for everyone.

If you are an employer looking for top quality protective safety glasses, or a weekend warrior remodeling your home, you can find a large selection of styles on the internet. Many home improvement centers also carry styles of safety glasses, but they will be a more one size fits all basic style. They are a larger style and usually fit over your existing eyeglass frames. These work, however, they can fog easily. It has never been easier to find what you are looking for by the click of a mouse. If your employees like how they look and feel in their protective glasses, they will find themselves not wanting to take them off – making it safer for everyone.

Safety glass is usually made from a polycarbonate material as in a bullet proof window. In order for them to be rated as safety glasses, the lenses and frames need to comply with the ANSI standards. Protective glasses are extremely durable, safe, and can be very clear and opaque for the best in eyeglass and eyewear users. Color tints are popular for function and fashion. Amber tinted glasses are good for overcast days, gray lenses reduce glare in sunny conditions, and mirror coating is a very fashionable look. The job generally dictates what kind of eye protection you will need. If you have questions about what kind of safety glass is best for the job you are doing, you can always ask OSHA. They will tell you what is necessary if there is a question. There are also many articles and safety glasses at http://www.contact-lenses-4u.net/safety_glasses.htm. Are you working around lasers, or flying debris? Are you in a high impact area, or around fumes? If you are in an area where liquid is a problem, some styles are better for protection from splashing than others. There are colors of frames available where even an outdoorsman can find safety glasses that have frames that are camouflage. The safety glass industry has come a long way from just clear plastic protection. If you do your research prior to purchasing a pair of glasses, you will be assured you are finding the best match for your specific requirements to keep your eyes safe.

The Ugg Boot and More!

The Ugg Boot and More!

The Ugg Boot is one of the most popular types of footwear on the market right now. Anyone who is not familiar with them should consider slipping one on! They are remarkably soft and luxurious. They offer an excellent level of comfort and a wonderful style as well. They are very warm and cozy. Your feet will be in shoe heaven! Let’s take a closer look at what is available in the Ugg line and see if we can’t find something that you will enjoy!

We can start with the trademark Ugg Boot. These boots are a take off of a sheepskin boot that has been worn for many years. They were once used by pilots in World War I and were used throughout Australia as a wonderful way to keep your feet warm during winter. They were even used by Australian surfers who needed a quick way to warm up after riding the waves! Today’s Ugg Boot is a combination of that same warm feeling boot that warmed people and a flare of style. They are offered in various colors and styles, but Ugg is known for their cute shaped boot with white fluff spilling over the top. In fact, some of those that you may have heard of are the Ugg Fluff Momma Boot which features Ugg fluff on not only the inside of the boot but also the outside and the Pink Uggs which was one of the most popular Ugg boot colors.

But, this is not the only thing that Ugg has to offer! You will find that they offer an assortment of products. Staying in the women’s line, we have many choices. For example, the new Ugg Cozy is one of the cutest slip-ons that you can own. Your feet will never want to come out of these. They are clogs that feature that same sheepskin interior that we love so much. For something a little most dressy, consider the Ugg Tiburon which are leather uppers that are simply gorgeous. In boots, you can choose the classic tall or the classic short boot.

Let’s move on to the Ugg’s men’s line. Yes, men can enjoy the luxury of Ugg as well. You will find within this line all sorts of wonderful shoe options. You can start your day with a very nice feeling Ugg Ascot! This slipper is definitely all man but offers the same softness that you’ll find in the Ugg Boot. Of course, men can purchase the classic short and classic tall boots as well. In the men’s line they are more masculine yet still offer that softness that is hard to find elsewhere.

Another very popular line of Ugg is their children’s line! Yes, boy’s and girl’s Uggs are some of the fastest growing in popularity. Start your child out right with an infant Ugg that is too cute! The Brand of Ugg!

The Brand of Ugg!

There are few trends that last longer than one season. Ugg is one that has been around quite a while. Ugg has become a brand associated with mainly high quality, highly fashionable footwear. Believe it or not, they first got their start in the United States on the west coast where there is little need for winter boots. That is due in part to the fact that Ugg is not just for snow. Completely the opposite, they are for anytime, anywhere, and with any outfit that does them justice! Let’s take a look at Ugg Boots here and find out just what they are all about!

Ugg is a term that is used to talk about several different types of boots. In most cases, we are talking about the trendy boot that is produced by a company called “Ugg Australia.” But, these are not the first Ugg’s to have come about. If you take a look back to the 1930’s, sheepskin style boots were being worn by pilots during World War I. And, you will again find these same Ugg boots arriving on the scene is the 1960’s when Australian surfers were wearing them. They would warm their feet in these boots after catching a few waves. Even still, they were worn by many Australian people as a way to keep their feet warm during the winter months and were usually worn indoors.

But, the Ugg boots that are so popular today are not made in Australia at all. Although they are still the same sheepskin type boot as they were then, the brand “Ugg” is one synonymous with high fashion trends.

Just what makes Ugg boots so darn good, though? Well, it takes only a second to know just why they are so wonderful. When you slip them on, they are comfortable. But, they are so soft that they are even luxurious. The fluffy inside of these boots offers a very warm and cozy place for your feet! They are also quite cute little boots. Therefore, they are some of the most sought after boots on the market. But, did you know that the term “ugg” actually was used to describe these boots as ugly? It is quite true that “ugg” is a shortened version of the word ugly. But, in this case, they were not referring to those boots made in the United States, but of those sheepskin boots made in Australia years ago! Today’s Ugg Boots are anything but ugly!

Today, you can find many different styles of Ugg. They are produced, as we mentioned, by a company called “Ugg Australia.” Its parent company is Deckers Oudoor Corporation. It is a heavily marketed brand that has drawn the attention of all sorts of people including some celebrities! Stars like Paris Hilton and Oprah Winfrey are known to love their Ugg boots! Because of this highly in demand following, these boots and shoes can be purchased just about anywhere. But, consider this before you run off to your nearest mall to purchase them.

To find the cutest and most wonderful of all Ugg boots and shoes, look for them right online. You will be happy you did simply because you will find a huge selection of them on the web. And, you are likely to find better pricing online as well. No matter which way you look at it, Ugg is a brand that will be in our hearts for years to come. Look for them on the feet of your favorite stars but don’t forget to get yourself a pair as well. You will fall in love with their comfort and style within minutes of slipping them on your feet!

Wedding Rings - How to Choose a Perfect Ring

Wedding Rings - How to Choose a Perfect Ring

Selecting a wedding ring isn’t is easy as it looks. You are going to wear your ring for the rest of your life, so it should be something you won’t get tired of in a couple years. You will have to look at and try on many different rings before you come to a final decision and, being an intelligent consumer, you should know what your options are.

First, you will have to decide how much you can afford to spend. Then, with your budget in mind, choose the material you want your ring made of.

Wedding ring materials can be:

- 14K or 18K yellow gold, classic and still very popular for wedding and engagement rings
- white gold, which is gaining popularity because it looks stylish and very modern. Also white gold can be worn with silver or platinum jewelry and it goes with most fabrics
- platinum is one of the hardest metals, which in itself makes platinum a suitable symbol for enduring love. It is also very pure: while 18 K gold contains only 75% gold, most platinum jewelry is 95% platinum. Platinum rings look similar to white gold, are very elegant and stylish, don’t scratch and don’t loose their look with the passing years. Platinum rings are the most expensive but, considering that you will wear your ring for the rest of your life, that doesn’t really matter for many couples
- titanium is long lasting, light and not very expensive, so it has recently became a very popular material for wedding rings. Titanium rings are similar in appearance to white gold rings but they are so light that you can hardly feel one on your finger. Titanium is a particularly popular material for men’s wedding rings

When choosing the material, think of what would work best with your clothes and the other jewelry you usually wear. Is your jewelry box filled with gold or silver? If your favorite pieces are silver, it is a good idea to get a white gold, titanium or platinum wedding ring. Alternatively, you could get two tone ring - usually made from white and yellow gold. This type of ring would match silver jewelry as well as gold.

Some women also want to match their wedding rings with their engagement rings. This is certainly something to take into consideration, if you plan to wear both rings on the same hand. Another option is to wear your wedding ring on the left hand and your engagement ring on your right hand - in which case they should probably still be the same color, but don’t have to match so closely.

Which wedding ring style to choose?

There are many styles available, so everybody can find a ring to suit their tastes. When it comes to style, though, the first thing you have to decide is if you both will wear similar rings or if each will select one that expresses his or her personality. The most popular styles are:

- traditional plain bands - even though they are plain, they will always be stylish and fashionable. These are also best suited for men who aren’t accustomed to wearing jewelry
- bands with beaded edges are a little more elaborate
- Two-tone bands which can be worn with either gold or silver jewelry
- Celtic wedding rings are really hot how. Covered with ancient knotwork designs, they look really stylish
- Solitaire rings with a single precious stone
- Solitaries with accents - rings with a large stone and several smaller stones around it
- Channel diamond rings

The best gem stones for wedding rings

Diamonds are unbeatable favorites for wedding rings and with good reason - not only are diamonds the most beautiful and expensive of all precious stones, but they are also the hardest. Other hard stones are rubies and sapphires. Gemstones like amethyst or aquamarine are too soft, which makes them unsuitable for a wedding ring that you are going to wear every day.

No matter which style and material you chose, you want a ring that would be comfortable on your finger. For this reason it is always best to go with a ring that is smooth around the edges.

Wedding Ring Styles - What is in Fashion?

Wedding Ring Styles - What is in Fashion?

Wedding rings and bands aren’t just pieces of jewelry, they are a symbol of your love and devotion to each other. Remember, you will have to wear your wedding ring every day for the rest of your life, so the ring should not only be beautiful but also comfortable to wear and a true reflection of your style. So what are your options?
First you will have to decide whether you want identical rings for yourself and your beloved or if the bride and groom will have different rings, to suit their individual personality. Then you will have to decide on the material and style.
These days you can find a stunning variety of wedding rings and wedding bands. The days when a wedding ring had to be yellow gold are long gone. Titanium, platinum and white gold rings have become incredibly popular. The reason white rings are in fashion is because they look modern and go with virtually any outfit. Diamond solitaire rings, diamond solitaires with accents and/or other germ stones, and Celtic wedding rings are also currently in fashion.
If you’re looking for a top-quality ring that would look great for a long time, then a platinum wedding ring is the best choice. Platinum is an elegant metal, which is very popular these days because of its white, shiny look and durability. Platinum doesn’t glitter as much as gold, either, which makes it look very chic. The only drawback to platinum rings is that they are rather expensive.

White gold rings are another popular choice for modern couples. A lot of people prefer the brilliance of a white gold wedding ring, so white gold solitaires are very fashionable now. You can get 10K, 14 K or 18K white gold rings but, since you expect your wedding ring to last for many years, it is best to go with a better quality 18K white gold ring.
Titanium is a durable, strong, hypoallergenic and very light precious metal, which makes it great for wedding and engagement rings. It looks similar to white gold and platinum rings, but feels much lighter. Titanium is also less expensive than platinum or white gold so, if you are on a budget, a titanium wedding ring would be an excellent choice.
Celtic wedding bands are also very popular. They can be made of yellow or white gold, platinum, titanium or silver. Celtic rings feature elaborated knotwork designs in one or more colors. If you don’t want a plain ring, a Celtic style wedding ring might be a suitable alternative.
These wedding ring choices are the most popular todays - but bear in mind that you and your beloved will wear your wedding rings for many years. Ring fashions can change. So it is best to choose the ring that you really like and best suits your personality.

Foldable Reading Glasses

Foldable Reading Glasses

For those on the go the need for a compact pair of reading glasses can be met by the foldable reading glasses available on the market. These small reading glasses fold down to make them ideal for those who need to easily carry them in a pocket or purse.

Foldable reading glasses are designed for easy carrying. Most foldable reading glasses have four hinges located at the ear pieces and nose piece. These hinges allow the glasses to fold down to about a quarter of their original size. A hard case usually comes with the glasses that is designed to protect and house the glasses when they are not in use. The small size
of foldable reading glasses allow for them to be very lightweight. These petite reading glasses come in the same strengths as regular size reading glasses. Foldable reading glasses fold down to fit in your palm making them ideal to carry in a pocket or purse.

Some users may find that foldable reading glasses do not meet their needs. Due to the multiple hinges there is more chance for breakage or wear. A person who takes their glasses on and off would not want to use foldable reading glasses. Occasional wearers who may need reading glasses for purposes like reading restaurant menus would benefit from the easy to carry size and would not have the concerns of excessive wear. The small size will also benefit people with stronger prescriptions as the smaller the diameter of the lens the lighter and thinner the lens will be. The smaller size does
limit designs, like hand painted frames or rhinestone embellishments. For an occasional user looking for a simple pair of reading glasses, foldable reading glasses are perfect.

The need for lightweight, easy to carry reading glasses has been met with the development of foldable reading glasses. These small reading glasses may not be for everyone, but for those wanting something compact, foldable reading glasses fit the bill.

Hair Extensions and Hair Replacements

Hair Extensions and Hair Replacements

Information about Hair Extensions

Hair extensions have grown in popularity over the last few years. With the TV shows "Extreme Makeover," "The Swan" and "American Idol" (that's how their hair grows so fast, just look at Paula Abdul's hair every week), hair extensions are more popular today than ever. Fortunately there are more trained hair extension artists than ever before. But sometimes you still have to travel hours to get to them if you can find them at all. Go to http://www.hairextensionsalonlocator.com
to get information on how to find hair extension salons near you.

Granted, hair extensions have been around for probably 35 years or more but the extensions that were used were mostly weaves, (braided and sewn in), and mostly in Ethnic salons. Weaves are still a great, and very often a more economical type of extension. They just don't work well in thin, silky Caucasian hair plus they can be very bulky.

About 20 years ago Mega came out with a keratin type hair extension bond that could be used to attach extension hair to clients hair in a free flowing, strand-by-strand method. This hair extension method was able to be used by all types of hair because of it's ability to adhere to any hair from silky to course plus you could chose the type of hair you wanted to use.

Not long after that SoCap and Great Lengths came out with pre-tipped hair extensions. This simplified the extension process by having the hair and bond, (the "glue" that attaches it to the hair although in most cases it is not a glue at all), all in one. There are many different companies manufacturing a similar product to Great Lengths and So.Cap.

Eurolocs and Hairlocs are a type of extension that uses a ring that is crimped to hold the hair extensions onto your hair. This is a popular type of extension now because it can be reused, (check with your hair extensionist about this). I have tried to mention a few hair extension types. Not all techniques will work for all people so it is best to seek out an experienced hair extension artist or 2 and have a consultation first.

Information on Hair Replacements & Hair Pieces for Men and Women

Hair extensions are great to give your hair more fullness and length. But sometimes you need more coverage because the hair on the top of your head is too thin to properly cover the hair extension bonds, this is where a hair replacement or hair piece comes in. Please don't let the thought of a hair piece scare you. The way they are made today they are very natural and undetectable. Hair pieces can be custom made to perfectly blend in with your hair color and perfectly fit the contours of your head. For women the hair replacement can be long or short to blend into your hair and in no way looks like a wig. I wish more women would give this a technology a chance because it can drastically improve the look and self esteem of a person. No one will ever know you have it on! Hair pieces can be taken on and off at home with the use of clips or toupee tape or can be more permanently attached at a salon. Retightening would be needed every 4-5 weeks
Another alternative is a non-surgical hair graft. (Mostly used on men but may be used on women) A non surgical hair graft is accomplished by attaching a hair system (the hair appears to grow directly from your own scalp) to your scalp with a surgical type glue and then cutting the hair so that it blends in with the already healthy growing hair. By using human hair and coloring it to match existing hair the system really can and normally does look totally natural. This procedure is not nearly as expensive as surgical hair implantation but it does require constant maintenance that can be on the pricey side.

Surgical hair transplants: Hair transplants consist of removal of tiny plugs of hair from areas where the hair is continuing to grow and placing them in areas that are balding. This can cause minor scarring in the donor areas and carries a small risk for skin infection. The procedure usually requires multiple transplantation sessions and may be expensive. Results, however, are often excellent and permanent. Hair transplants are only preformed by doctors. Hair pieces, non-surgical hair grafts and hair extensions are available at qualified salons. To find a qualified salon go to http://www.hairextensionsalonlocator.com

Find your style of reading glasses to show off your sense of fashion.

Find your style of reading glasses to show off your sense of fashion.

Reading glasses or readers have evolved from those old black granny glasses of the past. Today's reading glasses offer style and glamour making them as fashionable as they are functional. The many varieties of reading glasses
available match the many personalities of their wearers.

To be fashionable and feel great you need to identify what you need from a pair of reading glasses. Reading glasses come in many types, but the most popular ones are: rimless, plastic, metal, and foldable. The following list describes each kind, the characteristics, and styles available.

Rimless reading glasses: This kind has no frame around the lens. The ear and nose pieces connect directly to the lens. Rimless readers are good for someone wanting something lightweight. They also have an invisible look to them for someone who wants people to notice their beautiful face, not their reading glasses. Rimless readers do not offer much room for creative designs and usually come in one solid color.

Plastic reading glasses: Plastic readers are, as their name says, made of plastic. They are probably the most recognized type of frame. The choices of designs and colors are endless. Almost anything imaginable can be done with plastic readers. The most common problem with this type of frame is they are the heaviest of all frames. Newly developed plastics, like memory flex plastic, are lighter weight and have added bonuses like forming to fit your face comfortably.

Metal reading glasses: Metal has fast become a favorite frame choice because it is lightweight and less noticeable than plastic. Metal frames come in many colors and designs as well. The biggest concern with a metal frame is that
it bends easily and once bent is prone to breaking.

Foldable reading glasses: Foldable readers have hinges at the nose and ear pieces that allow them to be folded down to about a quarter of their original size. They are lightweight and easy to carry. They have metal frames and because of the extra hinges have an added risk of breaking. The easy to carry characteristics of foldable reading glasses makes them a
favorite with people who only occasionally need to use them, but store them in a purse or pocket most of the time.

When buying a pair of fashionable reading glasses, make sure work for you so that you will wear them. Then everybody will see what a flair for fashion you have.

Turn boring reading glasses into fun with color, shape and design!

Turn boring reading glasses into fun with color, shape and design!

There is no use fighting the fact that at some point everyone needs reading glasses. There is no reason to tie yourself to a boring pair. Have fun with funky colors, crazy shapes and rhinestone embellishments. Show off your free spirit with the wide variety of reading glasses that stray from normal neutral colors and rounded shapes.

Color is a place to start when jazzing up your reading glasses. Why choose dull black, brown or gray when colors like fuchsia and bright green are available? Reading glasses come in any color imaginable. Choose one that screams 'I am a fun person!'. Besides single colored frames there are options such as hand painted designs. A popular design is a floral pattern, but almost anything can be added with hand painting. Find someone who specializes in painting glasses and tell them what you want for your reading glasses. Getting creative with the color is one of the ways to add more pizzazz to
your reading glasses.

The shape of the frames is another option to turn your reading glasses from boring to fun. Most people see glasses as either round or oval shaped, but that is not the case. In fact cat eye shaped frames are very popular swooping up at the temples giving your face a visual lift. There are also squared or angled shaped frames. Not all frame shapes work on all faces. Try out different shapes to find one that suits you.

For those really fun at heart people, rhinestones may be the answer. Rhinestone readers can be bought in all shapes, sizes and colors. Rhinestones are a great way to add flash and fun to reading glasses.

While some people may love just one of these fun ideas, others may try all three. Be creative. The glasses are for reading, and you can have fun with them too.

Wedding Gown Styles

Wedding Gown Styles

The wedding gown is most important choice for a bride during her wedding. Every bride dreams of an enchanted wedding and a beautiful gown is what can make the bride look like a princess.

Choosing a wedding gown that flatters your figure and body type is something that should be remembered. Make sure that the dress matches your personality. Your selection of wedding gown should be based on what looks good on you and not necessarily, what the current fashion is.

Your wedding gown should be in theme with your wedding. If you are having a traditional and formal wedding, you should choose a very formal and full-length wedding gown. If you are having a casual wedding, such as a garden wedding or a teatime reception, then your wedding gown should be less formal. This would include a trendy wedding gown, that is less formal and more fun.

Here are some bridal gown words that you will want to know before hitting the bridal stores, knowing these words will allow you to choose a dress that is right for you.

A-line: a fitted bodice that flares out to the hem creating an A shape.

Ballroom: This is the classic Cinderella type gown, full skirt, off -the-shoulder and a natural waistline. This type of gown is great for the full-figured bride.

Basque waist- the waistline begins below the waist, forming a U or V shape: slenderizing: a good choice for brides with wide hips.

Empire: Cropped body, high waist, slightly flared skirt: not a good choice for brides that are large busted, along with clingy fabrics and heavily decorated body.

Miniskirt- The hem is above the knee, and typically has a train either short or long.

Princess: Slim fitting body with emphasis on the waist. Typically worn by people to give the appearance that they are smaller than what they are.

Sheath: Fabric continues down the body from the shoulders to the ankles for a close-fitting look, with no waistline.

Picking up your dress: It is actually very smart to leave the dress at the bridal shop even if the dress is ready far in advance of the wedding day. The bridal shop should be better equipped to store and keep the dress fresh and pressed.

Black - Always Fashionable When Done Right

Black - Always Fashionable When Done Right

Fashion is changing. But one thing is should be constant - black. Nothing is boring about the newest black fashions in New York and Paris. This is a great tip, and professionals know how to make models look brilliant in black.

Black is the basis for two important looks, according to Sally Singer, Vogue's fashion news director. "The interesting thing about black this season is that it's either used as a pop art basic against white, a '60s look that shows the graphic nature of black and white. (Christian) Dior did it well. ... Or, you see a mixing of textures and tones of black. Black velvet, black gauze, black silk or viscose. ... There's varying amounts of light that goes through it to make the black sometimes look gray, blueish or brownish," she says.

Another reason black is great for fashion, is its mess with fantastic jewelry. Style.com's executive fashion director Candy Pratts Price "You could wear a black beaded necklace on a black cashmere sweater, which will look very '40s, or you could also do it with silver -- the '60s -- or with pearls -- the '50s."

Black with a white skirt is a great fashion item. You can always spice it up with a beautiful thick, medieval looking belt.

It's a good time to invest in special black pieces, Vogue's Singer advises, perhaps a Pierre Cardin-inspired pea coat, which would look great against white trousers or blouse, or a pair of jeans.

One of the pieces Singer already bought for herself is a Loris Azzaro black blazer that's lined in gold lame. "That was the kind of special piece I was looking for," she says, especially since it hits on three trends: black, Russian-inspired details and a shrunken jacket silhouette. (She notes that less expensive versions of these "special" pieces are available at retailers such as J.Crew.)

The classic ballroom black dress is always an option. However, try spicing them up with the occasional yellow scarf, or shawl. You'll catch the attention of people with accessories that like. Colors that go well with black are almost endless, just go with the current colors of the season. You'll love the boundless options that you'll be able to mix-and-match when it comes to black.

Men, always own a black pin striped English tailored suit. These are in right now. They are beautiful and gorgeous. I'm not sure of any woman who doesn't love these. ATTENTION: Business professionals. Get this suit, and accessorize with a beautiful modern watch.

Have a look at some of the great options black has this season. Sleek stylish and sophisticated are black’s names. Enjoy it this fashion season, especially when winter blows in.

Why will wigs never go out of fashion?

Why will wigs never go out of fashion?

Quite simply because fashion exists, With every new fashion we are bombarded with a never ending parade of weird and wonderfull hairstyles that we would never in a million years be able to keep up with. Long hair short hair pink hair whatever the style the beauty of the wig is in its capacity to keep up with the latest trends. I don’t see many people wearing them you might say to yourself ! so is it simply not cool to wear such an accessory? Absolutly not… The reason that wigs do not seem prevelant is simply because they are just too well designed. With the latest technologies and tools it is now possible to create an array of superbly crafted specimens that are oblivious to all but the wearer. One reason is the investment made by the film industry, The sums invested in special effects and costumes nowdays have caused the science of wig making to rise to a whole new platau..

You see there are more wigs out there that you could possibly imagine. Over the past 6 years wig purchases have risen by a staggering 30% and are being bought by absolutely everyone…We simply love em.

What about the guys?

As I have said the art of wigmaking is reaching new heights. No more do we see those emabarressing and ludicrus creations so often worn by our favourtite newsreader or gameshow host. Designs that look so wild and angry that they seem capable of jumping off the wearers head and attacking anyone who might get in their way. Men can now wear wigs [ toupe’s ] with as much confidence and masculin gain as the most pamperered of movie stars . Nowdays it is quite normal for a mens section to be included in many of the top hairpiece websites and it is also very easy to arrange a private and totally advantageous fitting consultation .

Buying wigs is now even simpler with the aid of the internet. We can now choose a design with great ease and forward the necessary fitting requirements to the vendor in a matter of seconds. In no time at all the mailman is knocking at our door with your eagerly awaited “Brand new image”.

You can go from frumpy to stunning in a matter of minutes and without the need, repeated expense and time consuming effort of a trip to your local hairdresser. Don’t be afraid to dive in and choose the next “YOU”..they say that image can change your life so why not give it a go and see where it takes you.

Sometimes too there are folk who require cosmetic hairpiece assistance for totally medical reasons. You will find that the professional attitude of the industry has improved in leaps and bounds. You see there is a real difference between the person buying for added glamour and the person who is trying to adjust to an illness be it temporary or permanent. The majority of suppliers will be totally able and more than capable of aiding you in every aspect of a situation that you as a person would not normally find yourself in [ Don’t forget not everybody has a budding Pamela Anderson inside who is eager to jump out and make herself known to the world ] . Sometimes we find ourselves in uneasy situations but with the right help and assistance more times than not the results can be quite astounding. Many people even continue to use wigs even when their illness is long gone and a distanst echo . You see the cosmetic benefits to wearing a wig can be literally become a life changing event and in fact the silver lining to a once cloudy situation.

Wigs have been with us for hundreds of years for many kinds of reasons and until the time comes when mankind might have evolved into some kind hairless superbeing then wigs are here to stay .[ Who knows by then they may even end up being a “required” item of our attire just like a simple pair of shoes or pants?]

Fashion Wigs - Change Your Image in Seconds!

Fashion Wigs - Change Your Image in Seconds!

Do you want to be a blonde one day and a redhead the next? One way to do this is to dye your own hair and restyle it, but you can achieve the same effect with much less effort - just buy a wig. To select a wig that would be indistinguishable from real human hair and become your favorite fashion accessory, though, you need to know a few insider tips.

First of all, if you’re worried that a wig will look natural on your head, never fear! A properly made wig - even the quality synthetic varieties - can look totally realistic.

Which is best - synthetic or human hair wigs?

Wigs can be synthetic or made from real human hair. Synthetic wigs are cheaper, but the very cheap ones you can find online don’t look real enough. On the other hand, high quality synthetic wigs like Revlon, Raquel Welch or Paula Young wigs look very real. Also, synthetic wigs are easier to care for, as you don’t need to restyle them every time you wash them.

Real human hair is in limited supply, so human hair wigs are much more expensive; typically they several hundred dollars. Human hair wigs look and feel very natural. However, it is important to know that the quality of your wig depends on the origin of the hair used. The cheapest hair comes from Asian countries, but their texture is different from the hair of European women. The best human hair wigs are made from European hair but, unfortunately, they cost a small fortune.

See comparison of synthetic and human hair wigs at http://www.wigsguide.info/hair-extension-salon.htm

What wigs styles are available?

You can get ¾ wigs as well as full wigs. A full wig covers your entire head, so none of your own hair is visible. This type of wig is great when you want to try a color different from your own.

A ¾ wig is clipped to the top of your head. Because your original hairline is visible, the wig looks very natural. Also, your head doesn’t get ”toasted” under a wig cap. On the downside, though, three quarter wigs have to match your hair color very closely, otherwise it won’t look convincing. It is best not to buy this type of wig online because the colors on the color charts are usually not very accurate.

A very interesting style of wig is the headband wig. A headband wig is a full wig with a headband attached to its front. It is especially useful if you are always in a hurry, because the headband ensures that none of your own hair is visible. This style is recommended if your natural hair is a dramatically different color from the wig.

Wigs come in all shapes and styles - from very short to 30 inches long, in straight, curly, wavy, braided, layered, spiky or ‘the wet look’. It is important that you look at many styles before you decide which one your heart desires.

It is a good idea to have your wigs customized, too. If you can find a hair salon that can trim your wig to make it fit your face shape, go for it. Customizing a wig isn’t cheap, of course, but it will make your new wig look more realistic and suitable for your face.

If you feel like a change, get yourself a wig. It is amazing, how much having a different hairstyle can transform a person. And for a woman it is always important to vary her image and look fresh.

Hair Extensions - the Truth About Instant Long Hair

Hair Extensions - the Truth About Instant Long Hair

Hair extensions - a few hours in the salon and you have long hair that looks like a dream. But is there a downside? Professionally made hair extensions can completely transform your appearance without affecting the health of your hair, but if they are done wrongly extensions can seriously damage your hair. You should know what to expect before going to the salon.

Would hair extensions cost a fortune?

Yes, extensions done by a professional hair extension artist and made from high quality hair would cost you several hundred dollars. The price really depends on the quality of the hair used - Asian hair is cheaper, while European hair costs 2-3 times more. If you want good looking hair - especially blond hair - you will have to pay for European material.

Online you might find hair extension ‘starter kits’ with complete instructions, which aren’t difficult to apply. So if you feel adventurous, you can buy a do-it-yourself kit and save significantly. If done correctly, this type of hair extension looks as good as any salon made one. If you decide to follow this route, though, make sure that you order high quality hair.

What types of hair extension are available?

The two major types of hair extension are individual strands and wefts.

Individual strands, as the name implies, are attached one piece at a time to your own hair, usually using glue, or with waxes and polymers. The problem here is that most of the attachment methods require coating your natural hair with rather unfriendly chemicals. Attaching these extensions isn’t a problem, but removing this type of extension can seriously damage your hair.

Wefts, on the other hand, are braided into your hair, so no chemicals are needed. A weft looks like a curtain of hair held together at the top and hanging freely toward the bottom. It is braided into your hair around the midline of your head - about ear level. It is safer for your hair but, on the downside, as you own hair grows wefts have to be rebraided - about once every two months.

See pictures of different types of hair extensions at http://www.wigsguide.info/hair-extensions.htm

What materials are used for hair extensions?

First, hair for extensions can be either synthetic or real human hair. Synthetic extensions are cheaper, of course, but you get what you pay for - they look like artificial strands attached to your hair. They’re not very pleasant to the touch, either.

Human hair used for extensions gives better results. Human extension hair differs by origin. The most common are hair from India and Asian countries. They are great, if you are an Asian woman yourself. Unfortunately this type of hair has a noticeably different texture from a Caucasian’s natural hair, so on Caucasian women they just don’t look right.

European hair is of better quality, usually originating from Spain and Italy, is of better quality but costs more. The only problem is that its natural color is usually coal black. To make a blond extensions out of them, Italian or Spanish hair needs to be heavily bleached.

There are also so-called ‘raw’ or ‘virgin’ hair. This is European hair coming from Central and Eastern European countries, like Russia and Poland. The advantage of this hair that it is naturally light and of a very high quality. However, this type of hair is difficult to find and costs an arm and a leg.

Colored Contact Lenses - How to Choose the Color That is Best for You

Colored Contact Lenses - How to Choose the Color That is Best for You

You want colored contact lenses but you aren’t sure which color would be best for you? Here are some tips that should help you select your best color.
First of all there are two major types of colored contacts - enhancement color lenses and opaque lenses. Enhancement lenses are suitable for people with light eyes only, and are designed to make your own color brighter or give it a slightly different hue. For example: a person with naturally green eyes can wear blue enhancement color lenses and get most beautiful aqua effect.
Opaque lenses are designed for a more dramatic change. Whether you have light or dark eyes, opaque lenses are not transparent, so they completely replace the natural color of your eyes with the color of the lens.
What type and color of colored lenses to select depends on the effect you want to achieve.
You want your eye color to get brighter, but you don’t want to startle everybody who knows you with a different color
In this case, if you have light blue eyes, choose blue or aqua enhancement color contacts. You can also try Freshlook Radiance in Eden or Moonlight, which gives your eye an 'illuminated' effect.

If your natural color is gray or blue-gray, try blue from Acuvue 2 Colors or Freshlook Dimensions, to get a beautiful ocean blue color. If you feel more adventurous, go for jade green. Green eyes are quite rare, so you can make a statement with your new color.

If your eyes are brown, none of the enhancement color contacts would work for you. Try brown opaque lenses, which will make your color more defined, or hazel, which would make them lighter. You can also consider Freshlook Radiance Sunrise (lighter) or Autumn (darker), to add shimmer to your eyes.

See pictures of people wearing colored contacts at http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/color-contacts.html

Do you want to try something dramatically different from your natural color?

In this case opaque color lenses like Freshlook Colorblends, Acuvue 2 Colors opaques or Illusions by Ciba Vision would be your best choice.

If you have dark eyes and dark hair, try blue or amethyst colors, like True Sapphire or Amethyst from Freshlook Colorblends collection. Amethyst looks extremely daring and sophisticated, because this color is very rare in nature. You can also try green color contacts; they would look especially good if your hair is red. For most people, green eyes are associated with sexiness and creativity.

If your eyes are naturally a cool blue or gray color, try honey color contacts. Honey eyes are associated with intelligence, warmth and trustworthiness. You can reinforce the warm effect by wearing warm colors.

Most people with dark skin naturally have brown eyes, so by selecting blue or green lenses you will attract a lot of attention.

See examples of colored contact lenses http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/cheap-contact-lenses.html

To emphases the change, wear a new outfit, different in style and color from the clothes you usually wear. And to create a completely new image, change your hairstyle as well.

If you still not sure which color is best for you, ask your doctor to prescribe you disposable color lenses. Color contact lenses can be either annual replacement - you wear them for a year - or disposable - they come in boxes of six and you replace them every 2 weeks or every month. Disposable lenses are not very expensive - particularly if you buy them online - so you can try several different colors. The lenses mentioned in this article, Freshlook and Acuvue 2 Colors, are disposable color contact lenses.

Make-up for Color Contact Lenses - Expert Secrets

Make-up for Color Contact Lenses - Expert Secrets

Color contacts are great, whether you wear enhancement color lenses to brighten your natural color or opaques to change it completely. However, you will also need to apply some eye make-up to get the best effect from your lenses. There are a few eye make-up secrets that will make your new eyes really stand out.

The shadow colors you will need to use depend on your skin color and the color of your colored contact lenses.

For women with fair skin

For green color contacts neutral or pale shadow in green or blue-green varieties are best. If you get blue or turquoise contacts use blue shadow, but a shade lighter than the color of your contacts. For amethyst, violet or gray color contacts, lavender shadows work great.

Use gray or brown eyeliner rather than black - it looks more natural on fair skin. And smooth the line under your eye, so it doesn’t look too sharp. Also, if your color lenses are blue or turquoise, try blue mascara. It will give your eyes a really deep blue color.

For women with medium skin

With warm, medium-dark skin and green, blue or violet contacts, neutral shadows like taupe, browns or plums look best. For amethyst or turquoise color lenses, use dark lavender or plum eye shadow with a hint of silver across the eyelid.

Dark skin make-up suggestions

Amethyst, sapphire blue and green color lenses are magnificent on women with dark skin. If you apply bronze shadow in the crease, green eyes would look very deep. Mauve or deep brown shadows will do a good job emphasizing your blue or amethyst colored contact lenses. With aqua or turquoise lenses, try amber shadows across the top eyelid.

No matter what color contacts you wear, they will make your eyes bright and noticeable. Your eye make-up shouldn’t be too bright though; it shouldn’t overpower the new brilliance of your eye color.

Lipstick is also important in emphasizing your eye color. Neutral color lipsticks won’t do anything for your eyes. Most varieties of pink and bright, but light, red, on the other hand, would make your eyes stand out.

Eye make-up should be applied after your color contacts are already in place. Otherwise tiny particles of your mascara or eye shadow can get under your lenses and irritate your eyes. You should take your lenses off before you start removing make-up.

Use high quality mascara, so it doesn’t brush onto your lenses. Otherwise your eyes will feel very uncomfortable. Water-based mascaras are recommended. Also look carefully at the mascara label; some brands have a “safe for contact lens wearers” mark.

Color Contact Lenses - an Easy Way to Change Your Look

Color Contact Lenses - an Easy Way to Change Your Look!

Want to change something about your appearance? How about your eye color? You would be amazed how eye color affects your image. Find out what color contacts can do for your appearance and see how to get the best out of them

Color contact lenses options

Enhancement contact lenses are designed to enhance the color of light eyes. They don’t change your color, but give your eyes a light blue, aqua or green tint. Enhancement color lenses make your eye color brighter and more defined.

The most popular enhancement color contacts are Acuvue 2 Colors Enhancers by Johnson & Johnson and Freshlook Dimensions by Ciba Vision. Freshlook Radiance is also a very interesting design; these lenses create an illuminating effect. Enhancement color contacts only work on light eyes; on dark eyes they will not have any effect at all.

Opaque color contacts completely change the color of your eyes. They work equally well for light and dark eyes. Even if you have a very dark brown eyes, opaque color contacts like Freshlook Colorblends can transform your color into sapphire blue or jade green.

The color of an opaque color lens isn’t solid - it has an imprinted pattern that simulates the natural pattern of a human eye. High quality opaque color contacts like Acuvue 2 Color opaque or Freshlook Colorblends look very realistic. People would be amazed by what beautiful blue, green or amethyst eyes you have.

See pictures of different types of color contact lenses at http://www.1-contact-lenses-consumer-guide.com/color-contacts.html

Costume color contacts are always Halloween favorites. While the contacts mentioned above are designed to give your eyes a different but realistic looking color, costume lenses can give you cat’s eyes or werewolf eyes, while complete whiteouts are perfect for the effect of blind eyes. And who said that you can only wear costume color contacts for a costume party? It can be a real fun to wear them when going to the club, or just at school or work with otherwise ordinary clothes. With a pair of cat’s eyes, you are guaranteed to be noticed.

Most costume contacts only cover the color area of your eye. However, there are also scleral color contacts that cover the visible portion of your eye. Scleral lenses can produce unbelievable effects. The most popular costume contacts are Crazy Lenses by Cooper Vision and Wild Eyes by Ciba Vision.

All brand-name color and costume contact lenses are available with corrective powers as well as in plano (no correction) This means that if your eyesight isn’t perfect and you wear corrective contact lenses anyway, you can get color lenses with corrective powers and kill two birds with one stone.

Color contact lenses wearing advice

1. You should follow the same rules as for regular contact lenses - wash your hands before putting color lenses in, clean the lenses each time you use them and store them in a contact lens case in a special solution.
2. Color lenses are like your tooth or hair brash, and should not be shared with other people
3. You should put your make-up on after the lenses are in. If you use hairspray, do it before you put the lenses in, or shut your eyes very tightly while spraying.
4. Use only a mild multipurpose solution for cleaning your color contacts; never use peroxide based solutions. And don’t rub the lenses - it can damage the color
5. If you don’t wear your lenses often, change the solution they are stored in at least once a week
6. Don’t wear your color contacts for longer than 8 hours at a time

Your eyes and your hair are probably the two things most people notice first. And with color contacts you can have any eye color you want. Try them, and I am sure you will see many men turning their heads when you pass.

Body Art

Body Art

There are several forms of body art. Body art can be temporary, for example, body painting, or permanent, such as shaping, dyeing, and scarification, tattooing, and piercing. This article will provide some insight into body art.

Body art painting and shaping

Body painting transforms a person into a spirit or work of art; this can include another gender or a sacred place. Emphasizing on the visual appeal of the subject, the protective body paint is what gives it the appeal.

Body shaping is a technique in which to sculpt the body. Culturally defined ideals of beauty have caused people to bind the soft bones of children's skulls and feet, stretched necks with rings, and removed ribs to make their waist smaller. The most common method today of body sculpting is plastic surgery. Plastic surgery can sculpt and define almost any part of the body.

Skin Dyeing

Henna, is used as a temporary skin dye, in which different patterns and designs are applied to the body. The crushed leaves of the henna plant, when mixed with other natural ingredients, provides a thick, aromatic paste used for painting hands and feet. The olive green, dried out henna powder, mixed with such ingredients as black tea and coffee turns dark. When applied to the skin and left on overnight, it will harden and when pealed leaves a red tone to the skin.

Body art piercing, tattooing, and scarification

Piercing is ornamental as it allows the body to hold certain kinds of ornaments, which are inserted through the skin. The most common parts of the body that are pierced is the face although you will often find ear, nose and lip ornaments. Piercing is often part of a ceremony marking the coming of age. Ornaments might be limited to certain people or worn only on certain occasions

Tattoos are intended to be permanent and the patterns and techniques have varied over the years. The effects of tattooing depend on the country you live in. As an example, in the United States, tattooing is typically looked upon as being rebellious. Tattooing, in the last decade, has become a very popular form of body art throughout the world.

Scarification is much like tattooing, instead of placing a color into the skin with a tattoo needle, the color, or substance is placed into the wound or cut. Once the wound has healed, a permanent mark will remain on the skin

All of the forms of body art listed above can have adverse effects on individuals. There are health concerns with types of body art. If you are contemplating any of the above procedures, be sure to consider all the risks and facts before making any commitments.

The Ring - Step Back in History

The Ring - Step Back in History

The popularity of rings increased during the medieval period. People wore rings no matter if they were rich or poor. The most used materials in the making of rings are copper, iron, gold and silver. The class of the person was usually identified by the material the ring was made of.

Faceted jewels began to appear in rings around the 14th century. Some cultures have rings that are usually associated with them. Native Americans are associated with silver and turquoise jewelry. The Greek symbol of the fish, called the Icthus was used by Early Christians. The Irish Claddagh has an interesting story attached to it.

Richard Joyce along with the crew on a fishing boat from the village of Claddagh, Ireland, was captured the same week he was supposed to be married. Goldsmithing was Richard Joyce's trade while he was enslaved. While he was captured, neither married. Richard Joyce made a ring for his beloved that had two hands holding a heart for love and a crown for loyalty.

Joyce escaped from his captors and returned to Claddagh where he was excited to see his love again and know she had never married. She never gave up hope of his return to her. He gave her the ring that is known as the Claddagh ring. Wearing the Claddagh on your right hand, crown inward means that you are letting people know that you are single.

The person who wears the Claddagh on the right hand with the crown outward is in a committed relationship. Wearing the Claddagh with the crown outward on your left hand says Let our love and friendship reign forever, never to be separated. There are many reasons for wearing rings, one is adornment. Rewards for a job well done include rings such as the one given after the Super Bowl victory.

Rings such as engagement rings and wedding rings symbolize commitment. Women Religious wear rings to show their commitment to God. You can use almost any material to make rings now. Plastic, silver, copper, gold or even wood can be use to make them. Ceramic materials can be used as well.

Rings can be very simple or of something as intricate as filigree. Rings can be plain and simple or be adorned with jewels and/or gemstones, as is the case of birthstone rings. There is a birthstone for each month with its own meaning.

Below you will find a list.

The Garnet is January's stone the gem of faith and truth; it is believed to stop bleeding, to cure sickness of the blood and infections and it is said to protect from poisons. It is believed that February's birthstone the Amethyst helps soldiers in battle, hunters to catch prey, control evil thoughts and help the owner have success in business. In order to prevent seasickness, keep them safe, and gain courage and foresight, sailors use the Aquamarine, the stone for March.

The Diamond is April's stone and is the symbol of strength, courage and invincibility. The diamond is the greatest gift of love. In 1477 Archduke Maximillian of Austria gave a diamond to Mary of Burgundy which started the tradition of engagement rings. The Emerald is the birthstone for May and believed to sharpen the eyesight and mind of the wearer.

As protection against the hazards of long trips travelers used Emeralds. The owner of the Emerald is said to be given the power to predict the future because of its green color. The pearl is the birthstone of June and fresh water pearls are said to give the power of protection, luck, and love.

They provide protection for children from harm and wisdom from experience. The Ruby's (July) red color is related to protection, courage, physical energy, strength, health, sex, and passion. Associated with it are blood, death, and birth. The August birthstone, the Peridot is said to bring the wearer peace, success, and good luck. It is believed it has the powers of health, protection, and sleep.

It is believed that it attracts love, eases anxiety and negative emotions, and calms anger. The powers of the Saphire (July) include inner peace and spiritual enlightenment. It is associated with the power of healing rheumatism, colic and mental illness. The October birthstone is believed to have healing powers that aid inner beauty, eyesight, and faithfulness. It will assist the user in remembering past lives.

The properties of the Yellow Topaz (Sanskrit for fire) are said to heal both mental and physical illnesses and to prevent death. The Citrine that is also for November is believed to have powers to aid the kidneys, the heart, the digestive tract, liver and muscles. Its powers are the elimination of self-destructive tendencies and it promotes creativity and personal clarity.

December's birthstone is the Blue Topaz (Sanskrit for fire) and was believed to heal both mental and physical illnesses, and prevent death in the Middle Ages. The powers of attracting money, success, and love are attributed to the Turquoise another stone for December. It is believed also that it offers protection, healing, courage, friendship and luck.

Mental tension is relieved and the mind is comforted. Among the variety of rings there are mother's rings with birthstones of her kids, friendship rings, engagement rings, wedding rings, and school rings. At the base of the prices for rings is fifty cents (found in toy machines) and at the higher end fifty thousand dollars or more.

How to Develop Your Own Personal Fashion Style

How to Develop Your Own Personal Fashion Style

Samuel L. Jackson has a Kangol hat. Jude Law always seems to have a beautiful tailored English suit with a colored shirt. Mischa Barton from the hit TV show “The OC” has her beautiful frilled skirts. What is your personal fashion style? Have you ever sat down and worked out your personality and what would suit you? You should. After this article you will have some ideas of how to gain that look. THAT LOOK. The look that makes people say, “They have great sense of personal style.”

First, take a serious assessment of your personal style. Are you traditional? Are you modern with some punk attitude? Fashion forward perhaps, daring even? You have to find this out. This heads you in the right direction.

Second, why are you trying to develop your own personal fashion style? What is the reasoning behind it? Are you trying to be more noticeable, just for fun, or for the opposite sex?

Third, find your niche market on your body. Britney Spears uses her belly button, and has it stand out. Perhaps your neck, ears, eyes, chest, etc. Pick your favorite part and do something with it.

Fourth, because you know your personality, find a celebrity that has a similar taste as you. Get People Magazine or In Style Magazine, flip through and find a celebrity that you would like to copy. Dress like them, and add your own flavor, and let your look evolve.

Fifth, what would you change first? Your hair? Go to a salon. Your clothes? Go to the fashion district of your city. Jewelry? Find some nice boutique thrift stores with some antique or modern jewelry depending on your look. If your going for a huge change, pick out something with a new outfit and slowly incorporate it as jewelry, shirt, or scarf if you don’t want a sudden change.

Sixth, rely on accessories first. Handbags, sunglasses, and bracelets are a great way to gradually infiltrate and destroy your old drab look with your new fashion personality.

Good luck in creating your personal fashion style. Make sure you incorporate your new fashion to hide some flaws in your body. Believe me everyone has them, just hide them well, or even better, accentuate your assets! Have fun doing it, but make sure you experiment and ask for people’s opinions in most of what you do. But overall, enjoy yourself by expressing your new personal fashion style.

diamonds for women

diamonds for women

Marilyn Monroe made that phrase famous. Diamonds are a girl's best friend. That still makes a lot of sense. Here's why.

Reason #1 diamonds are a girls best friend because they are so beautiful. Fiery, romantic diamonds light up her finger. White diamonds look beautiful with outfits in every color.
Reason #2 diamonds are forever. There are lots of beautiful things around. Why diamonds? Roses are beautiful, but they fade. Dresses are gorgeous, but after childbirth, or as she ages, that beautiful dress would not look as beautiful on her anymore.
Reason #3 diamonds are precious. Sure, moissanite may be what a girl might buy for herself, because of its lower price, but moissanite is man made. Diamonds are rare, natural stones. The diamonds that girls love are of the highest quality. The lower grade diamonds may be used in tools, but women look at the quality of the diamond. See http://www.buy-diamonds.net/choosing_a_quality_diamond.htm for details on choosing a diamond. A large, high quality diamond would definitely impress.
Reason #4 diamonds are romantic. Especially when he is proposing to her with a diamond worth two months of his salary. It means sacrifice for love on his part. The fact that he loves her enough to save that sum to buy that diamond for her is a very romantic gesture that she will remember for years to come, each time she sees that diamond on her finger.
Reason #5 diamonds say that her man can provide for her very well. From the days when men would go out and hunt for animals to feed the family, to today, when most men go out there to bring in the money to support the family, women love being cared for. Being provided for. In many cultures, women look to marry a rich man. A man who can provide for them. If a guy can afford to give her diamonds, he can easily provide for her daily needs and for that of her children.
Reason #6 diamonds are practical. Like the song, diamond's are a girl's best friend. A kiss will not pay the bills. A rose isn't going to pay for her rental. A diamond, on the other hand, in times of emergency, can be a life saver. A single diamond can be sold for enough money to pay for a woman's bills when times get tough.
Reason #7 diamonds are a girl's insurance. Ok, so now, there are insurance policies in paper, that promise to pay for her old age medical bills etc, but diamonds are a lot more beautiful. She holds and sees them. She wears them. Everyone admires them. They assure her that even when she gets old, when she loses her looks, even if her guy leaves her for a younger woman, the diamonds would still be with her. A collection of diamond jewelry assures her that in her old age, or she is in dire need for cash, a piece of diamond jewelry could be sold, or pawned for much needed cash. Diamonds are a girl's insurance.

How to Jazz up a Bikini

How to Jazz up a Bikini

Anyone who has been on the fashion scene for even a small amount of time knows that the bikini has undergone an enormous amount of transformations in its 60-year history. The bikini began in 1947 as “smaller than the smallest swimsuit in history” (as it was subtly advertised through skywriting). While the original bikini was certainly smaller than the traditional maillot-style swimsuits that were popular in the 1940s, fashion designers have certainly taken the term “small” to heart in the last six decades.

Such designers have worked endless innovations on the traditional triangle top and full bottoms that originally defined the bikini. For example, the thong bikini has been miniaturized to such an extent that it is a wonder there is any fabric left at all. While the introduction of the tankini to the swimsuit fashion scene briefly refreshed and revitalized the world of the bikini, even this new type of bikini may soon begin its entry to the graveyard of retired swimsuit styles.

Given the explosive nature of the bikini’s birth into the fashion world, is it now doomed to enter its golden years quietly and without pizzazz? For fans of unique swimwear everywhere, the answer to this question is a definite and resounding no. While there are only so many innovations to be taken with style and cut (before there is no fabric left to work with), the sky is the limit for what can be done to enliven the current bikini with accessories and extra garnishes. Below you can find a brief list of some of the best ideas for jazzing up tired bikini style.

Belted Bikini: Reminiscent of James Bond beauties, the belted bikini has a sense of retro sexuality that is undeniable. From international model and actress Ursula Andress’s first debut of the belted bikini in Dr. No to Halle Berry’s replication of the style in Die Another Day, the belted bikini has retained a connotation of incredible sexiness and style. New belted bikinis for the upcoming summer season indulge a sportier look on the traditional belted style. In addition, scarf belted bikinis are hot for the summer season and fresh off the Italian runways. Regardless of the person wearing the belted bikini or the implied connotation, a fun or sexy belt on the hips of a bikini bottom definitely jazzes up tired bikini style.

Ruched Tankini: Despite being on the market for three or four years, the tankini is still one of the newest innovations to hit the swimsuit scene and has quite a bit of potential for jazzing up bikini style. One of the newest and best ways to wear a tankini is to invest in a ruched tankini top. The ruching will allow for alternate lengths on the tankini top (a must for women with either long or short torsos), as well as add a unique style factor to a traditional tankini top. Ruching also helps to slim the overall appearance of the body by defining the waist.

Bedazzled Bikini: One of the most exciting trends of the latest summer season (and in past seasons) is a bedazzled bikini. Fashion designers have added all kinds of glitter, jewels, and other fancy extras to bikinis to spice up the old bikini style. Feel free to pair a bedazzled bikini with some jeweled flip-flops to really add fun, eye-catching extras to your swimwear style. A bedazzled bikini not only jazzes up tired bikini fashion, it also allows you to sparkle on the beach or at the pool with flair.

Tie-front bikini: Any extra details added to the bust portion of a bikini top are generally recommended. The bust is one of the most attractive parts of a woman’s body, and drawing attention toward the bust has the added benefit of drawing attention away from less desirable body characteristics (like the hips or thighs). With that said, a tie-front on a bikini top definitely adds a level of fun and excitement to bikini style. Besides adding a level of sexy flair to a traditional bikini top, a tie-front also allows small-busted women to lift and shape their breasts to increase the perceived size of the bust.

With all of these fun, new innovations in bikini fashion, there is simply no reason for the bikini to retire into the swimsuit hall of fame just yet. With a little bit of style and some added extras, you can turn your tired bikini into a unique, eye-catching swimsuit creation.

Imitation Diamonds – What's To Love About Faux Diamond Jewelry?

Imitation Diamonds – What's To Love About Faux Diamond Jewelry?

Affordable: Once someone discovers imitation diamonds, it is inconceivable why they would not want everlasting elegance, saving thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars in the process, banking the difference. It is a fact that jewelry lovers are not acting out of charity when they buy diamond jewelry—endeavoring to make jewelers, mined diamond dealers, and the diamond cartel richer than they already are.

No way to tell the difference with the naked eye: Scientists have synthesized and created diamond alternatives that are so ostensibly close to a mined diamonds that even certified gemologists require scientific testing equipment to tell the difference. Breakthrough advances have made the latest faux diamonds closely mimic the properties of mined diamonds. They cut glass, they refract light into perfect hearts-and-arrows, and they have superlative fire and brilliance. In fact, in almost all measurable variations, they match or are superior to mined diamonds.

No pricing gymnastics: A common practice in retailing mined diamond jewelry is to use phantom prices and then show impressive discounts in an effort to lure buyers. This practice is called phantom pricing. With lab-created diamonds this deception is not possible because the prices are low to begin with, leaving no room to use phantom pricing.

No reason to constantly police your synthetic diamond jewelry: Do you forever want worry that you will lose expensive jewelry pieces, damage them, or have them stolen? Do you want to feel compelled to buy a home safe? When you travel, do you want to be burdened with frequently thinking about the security of your jewelry? With imitation diamonds all these concerns disappear.

No need to buy insurance: In a short time, what you’d pay in extra premiums to insure just a few pieces of mined diamond jewelry, you could fill your jewelry box with synthetic diamonds. But that is not the worst of it. Insurance is an ongoing never-ending expense.

No secret mined diamond dirty tricks and scams: All mined diamonds have flaws, birthmarks, and vary in quality. These realities are a breeding ground for a buffet mined diamond fraud that victimizes and robs consumers. From grade bumping to laser drilling to fracture filling, the mined diamond industry is awash in unscrupulous business practices. Lab-created diamonds are uniform, flawless, and priced low so frauds simply do not exist.

No supporting the diamond cartel: It all starts at the top with the De Beers diamond cartel, which would run afoul of federal anti-trust laws if headquartered in the united states. Diamonds are in fact cheap to produce and would be lower in price if it weren’t for the global cartel. Its aim is to maintain a strong monopoly position, an objective which it has successfully achieved for decades. In controlling the mined diamond market, De Beers has exploited a relatively simple idea: put a stranglehold on production, hold inventory, and limit distribution, thereby keeping prices stratospheric, and making diamond alternative engagement rings a popular choice. What makes De Beers so special is its execution. Over the past 60 years the cartel has done for mined diamonds something that eluded the oil producers of OPEC and even the cocaine barons of the Medellin cartel. De Beers has the muscle and the nerve to impose its own order on the market and has built a dominate juggernaut syndicate.

No “slave” or child labor used: Diamond mining operations are rife with horrific conditions and have a long history of dehumanizing humiliating practices. Debt slavery and child labor is common in diamond cutting operations in India, where much of the world’s diamonds are cut and polished.

No conflict stones: It is no secret that from the beginning of the modern mined diamond industry in the 1800s through today that mined diamonds are used to support regional wars, help fund murder on a grand scale, and contribute to genocide. Imitation diamonds are created in a lab by technicians at a reasonably low cost and, therefore, cannot possibly be used as a currency for human misery.

Prestige: While there is no prestige in overpaying, there is tremendous prestige in enhancing your existing wardrobe with beautiful man made diamonds on a budget. You can accessorize and glamorize till your heart’s content, with a smile on your face, showing you are a person of stature at any occasion or event.

Fashion Trends for Fall 2005

Fashion Trends for Fall 2005

The overall theme of fashion for Fall 2005 is an air of drama. Black is back, coats are dramatic, and smart tailoring is going to be huge.
Black is back in a big way – well for most of us it never went away. The stores will be filled with delicious eveningwear particularly black lace, which is sexier than ever whether it’s girlie, 80’s retro, boho or red carpet elegant. This also works well with the next big trend which is Victorian. Full length skirts, high-necked ruffled blouses and puffed sleeves are the main features of this look. You can go for either prim or sexy. Accessorise with boots, hats and gloves for a total look.
Dresses are soft and feminine for Fall 2005. Velvet in sumptuous autumnal or jewel colours, while more boho-styled graphic prints will also be around for those of you who loved your hippy chic this summer and don’t want to give it up just yet.
Coats for this winter will be big and dramatic with big collars, possibly in fake fur. The big story however is going to be Houndstooth checks, the bigger and bolder the better.
In fact checks are big in all types of clothes this fall, including plaids and tartans which appear on everything from trousers and skirts to bags, shoes and hats.
Tailoring is back as one of the strongest features of Fall 2005 – in particular the pencil skirt which appears as part of a skirt suit. Skirts of all types are hot for Fall, straight, wide and swirly, and for the slimmest of figures only the ‘bubble’, a tulip shaped skirt which will exaggerate hips, so wear with caution!
National costumes have inspired lots of heavily decorated ethnic styles, in particular Russian styles, thick with embroidery and texture and topped off with a furry Russian-style hat, warm enough for the depths of a Moscow winter. Peru has also provided inspiration for embroidered clothes and bright knits.
There are many gorgeous accessories around this season to complete your outfit. Knee high boots, ideally with laced up details to go with the Victorian and ethnic looks, and platforms are making a comeback, usually with a narrow heel. If you prefer flats there will be lots of ballet pump styles. Metallics in shoes, bags and belts will also be popular. For daytime, bags can be as big as you like, either slouchy hobo styles or classic square types. For evening, bags should be tiny and decorated with tassels, jewels or embroidery.
The detail of the season will be pom-poms on everything from scarves to shoes, and the hottest color for accessories will be purple, preferably with studs.

History Of Costume Jewelry

History Of Costume Jewelry

There is virtually no difference between costume jewelry and antique jewelry. Costume Jewelry dates back to the 1930s. By the definition of antique that would also make it antique jewelry. However, most jewelry experts have come to agree that antique jewelry predates the 1930s.

Costume Jewelry came into being in the 1930s as a cheap disposable jewelry meant to be worn with a specific outfit, but not meant to be handed down through generations. It was intended to be fashionable for a short period of time, out date itself, and then be repurchased to fit with a new outfit purchase, or with a new fashion style. It became available in large quantities during the 30s.

Cheap jewelry also existed prior to the 1930s. Paste or glass jewelry as far back as the 1700s. The rich had their fine jewelry duplicated for a variety of reasons, using paste or glass stones.

By the mid 1800s with the growth of the middle class there were now different levels of jewelry being manufactured using fine, semi-precious and base materials. Fine jewelry of gold, diamonds, fine gems such as emeralds and saphires continued to be made.

Jewelry from rolled gold, which is a thin layer of gold attached to a base metal, entered the market for the middle class. This jewelry was often set with semi-precious gems such as amethyst, coral or pearls, and was much more affordable.

And then there was jewelry that most anyone could afford, consisting of glass stones and base metals made to look like gold. All three types were intended to be passed down to future generations.

There are usually clues that can help one identify what era a piece of jewelry is from. Style, material, the type of piece. For example dress clips came in in the 1930s and were out of style by the 1950s.

Jewelry reflects styles, designs, colors and stones of the era. For example from 1910 to 1930 silver was the favorite color for metal, so jewelry was found in platinum, white gold, silver or a base metal colored to look like silver.

By World War II, gold was popular again but in short supply, since it was vital to the war effort. What gold was available was made into very thin sheets and usually bonded to silver (called vermeil) before being turned into jewelry. By the 1930s rhinestones popularity was ever increasing in Europe.

It was not available to the Americans until the 1940s. As a result, many of the pieces from this period tend to feature lots of metal and a single stone or a small cluster of tiny rhinestones.

Today is certainly not much different from past times. We still have fine jewelry, semi precious jewelry, and of course costume jewelry available to us. Costume jewelry can add the finishing touch and show your fashion sense.

Costume Jewelry styles of past years are now becoming very fashionable and many are being reproduced. Even with costume jewelry there is a difference in quality. Many of the new pieces do not have the vibrance in the stones or the weight of the older pieces.

Antique and vintage costume jewelry are both fun to collect and fun to wear. No longer is costume jewelry simply "collectable." It is "in style, and " "fashionable," and a terrific conversation starter. Dress to impress!

How To Care For Pearls

How To Care For Pearls

Pearls are soft gems and they need gentle care. Here is a guide to pearl care.

• Wipe pearls regularly and gently with a soft cloth moistened with water. Pearls can absorb perfume, skin oils and dirt. Do not clean pearls with detergents.

• Protect pearls from temperature extremes and chemicals such as vinegar, alcohol and hair spray. They can erode pearl surfaces.

• Wear pearls after you have applied makeup and hair spray.

• Pearls can be scratched easily. They should be stored in a soft place. Avoid putting pearls next to diamond or gemstones jewelry.

• In the case of a frequently worn pearl necklace, it is advisable to restring the necklace every one or two years since silk thread may weaken.

How to Choose a Pearl Necklace for Your Wedding Day

How to Choose a Pearl Necklace for Your Wedding Day

The elegant beauty of a strand of pearls has fascinated brides for centuries. People believe that wearing pearls on their wedding day will bring bliss to their marriage.

Pearls are classic wedding jewelry. How do you choose that perfect pearl necklace?

Here are some tips:

There are four types of pearls:Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls, SouthSea pearls, and freshwater pearls. Akoya, Tahitian and South Sea pearls grow in oceans. They are more valuable than freshwater pearls for their rarity and high luster.

Akoya pearls are the most popular. These pearls are valued for their rich color, mirror-like finish, and appealing roundness.

As with any other gemstones, the value of pearls is determined by their quality.

A pearl’s quality can be A, AA, AA+, AAA, AAA+. The last two, AAA and AAA+ pearls, have the best quality and they are most valuable. For pearls of the same size, an ‘A’ quality pearl necklace costs only a small fraction of AAA quality pearl necklace.

The quality and value of pearls are based upon six criteria: luster, nacre, surface, color, shape, size and matching. The educated buyer uses his or her preferences to decide which criteria are most important.

Nacre: Most buyers of pearl jewelry pay most attention to the pearls' nacre thickness. Nacre is the coating that a pearl oyster produces to cover the pearl’s nucleus; it is the key to how long pearls last. You should look for pearls with nacre thickness over 0.4mm.

Luster and Surface: Luster is the amount of light reflected from the pearl's surface. A strand of pearls with high luster, mirror finish and clean surfaces is most desirable and valuable.

Color: It is a personal choice. Consider buying a pearl necklace whose color will complement your clothing and your skin tone.

Size: The price of pearls that are larger than 7mm varies greatly. People usually buy the largest pearls they can afford.

Shape: Round pearls are most desirable and valuable.

Matching: For a pearl necklace or bracelet, matching refers to the ways in which all of the pearls are similar. It is difficult to find enough identical pearls to make a well-matched pearl necklace; therefore such a necklace commands a top price.

After you have decided the type, color, size and quality of pearls that you want, think about your budget. Take your time to shop around and find that perfect pearl necklace for your wedding day!

The Mystery Of The Opal

The Mystery Of The Opal

There is no other stone that has the mystery of the opal. With its fiery colors and magnificent spectrum of color it draws you in and you are helpless to look away.

Every opal is different. There are no two stones the same. And every stone reflects the light differently depending on its depth and personal characteristics. This stone eludes a mystical aura without even trying.

Opals are extremely popular for jewelry and it’s not hard to figure out why with that beautiful array of color. Soft and feminine yet fierce and bold.

Opal has the honors of being October’s birthstone. Back to ancient times it has been associated with magical qualities. It was believed to bring both good and bad luck. Some cultures used opals in white magic and believed they brought good fortune. Other cultures considered them a third eye that would allow you to tell the future.

Opals are a semi precious stone but a black opal can cost as much as a diamond. The amount of fire in the opal and where it comes from will determine the price. Pale opals can be purchased quite cheaply but the more fiery or red the more expensive the opal becomes.

Opal jewelry comes in a variety of style and is set in both gold and sterling silver. Sometimes you’ll see triplet or stacked opals, other times they are set solitaire. They also come in a variety of different cuts.

There are several types of opals:

The fire opal is probably the most popular. It is translucent with fiery orange and red flecks. The colors are vivid and intoxicating. This opal is sometimes called the Mexican opal or the Cherry opal.

The white opal is an opaque milky white with light flashes of rainbow colors.

The boulder opal is a natural solid opal with a fine layer of opal deposited on an iron base.

The water or jelly opal is colorless and transparent and has no color play.

The crystal opal is also transparent, but displays a rainbow of color. It is so transparent you can see through it on a light surface.

The Mosaic opal is just what it says. Small irregular pieces of opal tightly fit together. It’s a great way to use chips and is very affordable.

The opal doublet is made of sliced layers of natural opal that is too thin to be used in a single set. It is bonded and set on black glass or ironstone which enhances its color. The doublet opal is much cheaper because you are buying less true opal.

Synthetic opals are created in a lab and although they basically have the same properties as a natural opal by law the jeweler must tell you if it is a synthetic stone.

Contrary to what you hear opals are no more difficult to take care of then other stones. You should not knock or bang them and you should keep them out of direct sunlight or heat.

One thing you need to know is that opals cannot be cleaned in commercial jewelry cleaner or any other harsh chemical solution. Rather use a soft brush and water with a dab of vinegar, then rinse thoroughly.

Water will not hurt your opal unless it is a doublet or triplet then you should not immerse in water. Solid stones are fine. See that’s not so difficult.

So the next time an opal draws you in and wants to go home with you why not add this beautiful mysterious stone to your jewelry collection. Only then will you experience the mystery of the opal.

Pearl Talk - What You Need To Know

Pearl Talk - What You Need To Know

The pearl has always been a rather prim and proper piece of jewelry – classic and seeped in tradition that never goes out of style. Well things they are a changing! This year not only has the pearl is had a very glamorous make over it’s a front and center fashion statement! Yes, the classic strand still exists as it always will. But we warned we are seeing some vary daring looks from the pearl this season. Extra long lengths, tasseled multi strands, pearls with semi precious stone accents, pearls on gold or silver chains. The pearl has been transformed into a fun and fashionable accessory.

The glow or radiance of a pearl is the most important quality. Avoid pearls that are chalky or dull as they will be weak and may crack or peal. The surface of the pearl should be blemish free – no bumps or cracks. Inspect under a bright light. Baroque pearls are the exception to this rule – their charm is in their irregularities.

Pearls are measured in millimeters. The larger the pearl the higher the cost. A 6 mm pearl is going to be much less than a 12 mm pearl. The least expensive pearls are the freshwaters which mainly come from China. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Average size is around 7 mm

The best way to care for your pearls is simply to wear them. The natural skin oils keep them moisturized. Do not put them on until you are done with your cosmetics. This includes hair, facial, and perfume. The residues from these products will ruin your pearls. Do not wear your pearls in the water – chlorinated and salt water will damage them. Polish with a soft cloth and never use jewelry cleaning products on your pearls.

Quality pearls are not cheap but they will last a lifetime. Freshwater pearls are becoming very affordable. Not all of us will be in the market for “Real Pearls” and lucky us there are plenty of options. Swarovski makes a crystal pearl that is of the finest quality and quite difficult to tell from a true pearl for a fraction of the cost and they are available in a variety of colors. There is an endless supply of imitation pearl or costume jewelry pearls on the market. These are offered in a wide variety of styles and colors. Great fun at affordable prices.

So you ask what’s “In Style” this season? Well I’m glad you asked! Pearl rings get the green flag – from low settings to monster large solitaire pearls, they are all the rave. A pearl ring can go from romantic and simple to sleek and stunning. The Bib Necklace makes a very dramatic statement. A broad necklace that tapers towards the back just like a baby’s bib [thus the name]. They range from extremely wide to as narrow as a ½”. This style works great with a simple black dress or strapless neckline.

The multi-strand necklace is ever so preppy. They range from 12” to 18” and pearls are usually small to medium. The object of these necklaces is for every pearl to be in perfect placement. Very versatile and fashionable. The opera length necklace simply never disappears from the fashion scene. They measure 36” or longer and they can be worn as a long single lean line, doubled up, tied in a knot, wherever the moment takes you. These long strands are terrific for dressing up a pair of jeans or semi casual look.

The tassel necklace from the footloose and fancy free1920s has made a come back, and rightly so! Today tassels are often made from tiny seed pearls or irregular baroques. They range in length fro short at 16” to navel length at 36”. The tassel necklace swings and sways with your movement making it a must have for those night of dancing.

This season for first time, we are seeing pearls mixed with colored gems such as amethyst, peridot, or topaz. They compliment each other nicely – pearls with their soft and subtle shades mixed with semi precious gems with their vibrant and bold color. Picture it – what a fashion statement!

Pearls mixed with silver is also new this season. Long silver chain dangle earrings accented with pearls, or freshwater droplets set on silver. This season the pearl is all about the color. Pearls are available in many hues but this season the “hot spot” is “lavender” and the lavender family ranging from pale iris to plum.

If you already own a beautiful classic pearl necklace its very easy to transform it into something from this season. Try adding a group of charms or pendants, fastening a vintage brooch or clip[ on earring at the bottom. You could mix various lengths or sizes of pearls together or entwine a silver or gold chain. How about mixing your real pearls with your fake pearls? The options are as endless as your imagination.

Remember when you freshen your wardrobe for the spring, freshen your costume jewelry too and Make Your Fashion Statement!

The New Wedding Band Styles

The New Wedding Band Styles

You’ve decided to tie the knot and now you’ve got some wedding band shopping to do. Your wedding band is a ring your going to wear all the time so it’s important to choose a ring you “really like,” one that truly “touches your heart.”

A reader survey completed recently in Bride's magazine found 80% of respondents wanting a "traditional" wedding. In todays world what defines traditional is wide open for interpretation.

Many weddings will have the traditional core but be customized to the bride and grooms personal tastes.

Traditional usually means white gown, church ceremony, full reception, completed with a honeymoon getaway. When it comes to wedding bands tradition and modern style are quickly entwining to produce some fabulous new wedding band styles.

So you ask, what is the hottest styles in wedding bands?

Well, one think is for certain. Diamonds are still a girls’ best friend and are very quickly becoming a guys best friend too! In the past few years there has been a record number of diamond wedding bands being purchased for guys. Men have finally figured out what women have always known about diamonds. Diamonds are elegant, classy, and sophisticated.

The most popular bands are flush settings in gold, platinum, or titanium. Usually the diamond is one carat or less. Another popular setting is small diamonds placed geometrically around the entire band.

So they say what’s good for the goose is good for the gander right? That’s why today’s brides have no problem wearing matching bands to their new husbands. After all women have always had the finer taste for the beauty of diamonds.

Today brides and grooms have many choices. They can buy matching bands or similar bands that accent each other. Designers are now producing coordinating engagement rings and wedding bands. So rather than choosing a set, you can now mix and match. This allows for more personal taste and for more uniqueness.

Both titanium and platinum are very hot. Both brides and grooms are jumping on the bandwagon for something different that the traditional yellow gold of the past.

Guys and gals alike appreciate the beauty of platinum and the wearability of titanium. Today’s platinum is no longer mixed with yellow gold.

Today high polished platinum is a star all by itself. The popularity of titanium wedding bands is also growing leaps and bonds. Titanium has the same look as platinum with two advantages it’s considerably cheaper, and its much more durable than platinum.

Jewelers today are borrowing design ideas from the past. Delicate scroll work and intricate patterns are very popular.

Designs from the Art Nouveau and Edwardian period are very popular with their flowing geometric designs. Designs are no longer stiff but flowing and fluid.

Custom designer wedding sets have become very vogue. Today wedding sets are chosen with the same thought a woman puts into purchasing clothing. Women are much more in tune to their entire fashion statement and since their wedding rings are worn all the time they want their rings to reflect who they are.

They also like to choose wedding rings that will work with other jewelry pieces they wear.

The most popular diamond shape is the round brilliant cut, however many women are choosing some of the more non traditional cuts for their engagement rings. Emerald cuts, baguettes, and marquis cuts have grown in popularity in the last few years.

Today’s choices allow both bride and groom to combine tradition with choices that reflect their personal tastes and their own personalities.

Never has their been a time in history when the design of wedding bands and engagement rings was so intricately tied to the individual who would wear it. Price, selection, and style are as wide as the imagination.

Bracelets From Cleapatra To Modern Day

Bracelets From Cleapatra To Modern Day

Bracelet popularity dates back to the Roman times and continues today.

Roman bracelets shared many of the design patterns of necklaces and earrings from that era. The ever popular ball earrings from that era were nicely matched with a ball style bracelet. Engraved bangles and snake bracelets were very popular during Roman times.

Bracelets made of twisted coil with lion head ends were common place, as were the two part bracelets ending with a pair of lion heads. The Heracles knot bracelet is recognized as a Roman era piece. The Roman’s were very creative in the designing of their jewelry. However they still borrowed from Greek motifs.

Palmettos, fleeing dogs and acanthus leaves, all of Greek origin, were often seen in the designing of Roman jewelry.

Stones and glass were often used in Roman bracelets. . Gem stones were commonly found set in eyes. Open bands were cut to represent a row of ivy and entwined with pearls. Many of the leaf and berry bracelets were heavily adorned with decorative glass. The wealthier women could be seen wearing bracelets layered in bezel set emeralds.

During the Gerogiian times bracelets remained popular. Paris jewelers were known for their gold bracelets set with pearl edging. After the 1820s coral became the “in” fashion statement, so bracelets and other jewelry were heavily set with coral.

During the Gerogiian time it was very fashionable to wear many bracelets at once, including wide ribbon gold mesh bracelets, and silk ribbon bracelets. Gem and Diamond bracelets were designed in geometric patterns. Gold was heavily used during this era.

The Victorian era brought changes to the fashions of women, including jewelry styles. Earrings grew long and dangled, bracelets became rigid and were normally worn in pairs. The buckle bracelet became very fashionable.

The jewelry of the Victorian era expressed sentiment, and bracelets were no exception. Bracelets would contain lockets or charms with pictures or hair of a loved one, and engravings were common

Early Victorian jewelry enjoyed some mystic with hidden meanings being popular. The acrostic bracelets where the first letter of each gemstone spelled a word of friendship were very popular. For example a bracelet set with Lapis, Opal, Vermeil [hessonite garnet] and Emerald would spell Love.

The Art Nouveau period once again saw changes to fashion and jewelry. Chameleons and serpents entwined themselves around bracelets. The mystical Egyptian scarab was found on bracelets and rings. Other popular creatures included dragonflies, butterflies, bees, peacocks, swans, and even bats. This was a very figural period attached to nature.
If jewelry did not depict creatures it depicted flower blossoms or flower buds.

From 1910 to 1939 women’s fashions saw sleeveless or short sleeve dresses appear. The result was flexible bracelets and bangles worn on the upper arm. These arm bracelets were often adorned with gemstones or diamonds.
From 1940 to 1949 US designers were greatly influenced by the designs from the French house of Van Cleef & Arpels. Bracelets with ribbon of hexagon lines centered on fine gemstones fastened with heavy clasps became very vogue.

From 1950 to 1960 daytime saw simpler lines for not only gold bracelets but necklaces as well. Gold mesh or twisted wire bracelets were very popular.

From 1960 to 1970 bracelets became more flexible and were often set with gems. Bangles on the other hand became more rigid and were often seen set with random diamond placements.

From 1970 to 1979 bracelets were flexible and often set with tiny baguettes. Delicate and dainty bracelets were vogue.

From the 1980s to now bracelet fashions have been mixed and varied. Bracelet styles have become more of an individual fashion statement than a trend. Gold has always remained popular as have gems, however sterling silver has become very popular and recognized for its versatility and wearability at affordable pricing. In the last few years we’ve also seen an increase in demand for titanium bracelets.
Today a women’s fashion statement is about her! What she likes, what she feels good in. So your bracelet wardrobe can be what ever you want. Wear a dainty gem set gold bracelet or an armful of clunky bracelets, which is very vogue this season.

Your fashion statement is about who you are, so feel free to be you!

The Glittering Story Of Rhinestones

The Glittering Story Of Rhinestones

Rhinestones have a glittering past. Originally rhinestones where referred to Czechoslovakian or Bohemian glass dating as far back as the 13th century in Bohemia and the Czech Republic.

Both have a history steeped in beautiful hand blown glass as well as molded and cut glass.

By 1918 glass was no longer limited to functional items. Czechoslovakian glass began to make its appearance in dazzling and brilliant jewelry. This Czech glass became known as rhinestones.

Rhinestones were manmade gems from highly refined glass. By using various metals the glass was colored to the desired shade. It was then pressed into molds. Each stone was then ground and polished by machine, resulting in a brilliant glass stone. Often the stones were foiled on the back which increased their brilliance.

Today, the same refining process is still used. You will often here rhinestones referred to as paste. Originally paste was referred to a glass stone that made of ground glass which was molded and then melted, producing an opaque dense glass frosted stone.

Paste had many air bubbles and swirl marks. The high lead content glass was then polished and faceted, and set on either copper or silver resulting in a brilliant stone. Today the term paste usually refers to rhinestones.

In Europe rhinestones are often referred to as paste, strass, and diamante.
Austria is another area with a history in rhinestone production.

In 1891 Daniel Swarovski created a new glass cutting machine which quite literally revolutionized the jewelry business. This machine could cut faceted glass, producing finely finished product in a very short time. Prior to this invention it would take a very long time for each stone to be hand cut and finished.

Swarovski’s background in glass making, combined with his glass cutting machine soon found him producing rhinestones with a lead content of over 30%. The brilliance of these rhinestones was superior to anything seen on the market.

Swarovski wasn’t content with his invention and the best rhinestones ever seen. His next invention was once again transforming to the jewelry industry. He created a vacuum plating for the backs of the stones with silver and gold, reducing the need for hand labor.

Still today Swarovski rhinestones are recognized as the highest quality in the industry. Over 80% of rhinestone jewelry manufactured in America use Swarovski rhinestones.

Rhinestones have played an important role in costume jewelry for hundreds of years. It is used to enhance and accent, and sometimes rhinestones will provide the entire design.

During the Victorian period common motifs for jewelry included snakes, flowers, and hands most often adorned with rhinestones.

The 1890s were a time for extravagant jewelry heavily adorned with rhinestones. As time moved forward designs became simpler with figural shapes once again making their fashion statement. However this time they were small and more elegant with small rhinestone accents.

During the Edwardian period extravagance had made a comeback with diamonds and pearls being the focal point. Once again rhinestones were in heavy use, often used to imitate the real thing.

During the 1920s fashions were rapidly changing. Dresses had gone from fitted to a looser more comfortable style. Two distinct styles occurred during this era – the feminine style and the androgynous style.

Jewelry from the 1920s drew on the art deco period. The majority of rhinestone jewelry was made with clear rhinestones.
As the 1920s moved jewelry once again became bolder. Dramatic color was in style. Designer Coco Chanel was an integral figure in the setting the stage for jewelry of this era.

During the 1930s during the depression labor intensive fashion was no longer feasible. While the world was in turmoil, jewelry represented an affordable comfort to many women.

Inexpensive costume jewelry could be used to revitalize an old outfit. The industry began to produce bright colored enamel pieces accented with rhinestones. Dogs, birds, or cats with a rhinestone eye were common place.

The jewelry during the 1940s once again became big and bold with rhinestones being produced in every imaginable color, large stones set on large bold settings was the norm.

By the 1950s there were two very distinct looks – elegant and sophisticated for the more mature woman, and casual and fun for the younger woman.

The 1950s saw jewelry made completely from rhinestones. For the younger woman were flirty pieces, for the older woman sophisticated elegance. Rhinestone parures became extremely popular.

In 1953 the aurora borealis rhinestone was introduced to the market with its fabulous array of color. It was an instant hit!
By 1960s women were wearing very functional clothing.

By the late 1960s the hippie fashions were extremely popular with their roots tied to Mother Nature. Tie dyed shirts, long flowing skirts, frayed jeans were everywhere. This generation had no interest in rhinestone jewelry.

By the mid 1970s the punk look had been born and the rhinestone was revitalized. It was the disco movement brought the rhinestone back to center stage.

The disco movement turned into the club movement during the 1980s and rhinestone jewelry continued to gain popularity.
Since the 1970s rhinestone have remained main stream in the jewelry world. T

hey continue to gain popularity and today there is a style to suit almost every ones needs. There is rhinestone jewelry which is perfect for a bride, rhinestone jewelry for a prom girl, rhinestone jewelry for the young and fun crowd, the business woman, the sophisticated woman, and the mature woman.

Beautiful pieces of rhinestone jewelry adorn almost every woman’s accessories.
If trends are an indication of the rhinestones future, it appears to have a vibrant healthy life ahead of it.

Pleasing for most woman with a fashion sense who instantly recognize the value and beauty of rhinestones!

Tips To Choosing Jewelry

Tips To Choosing Jewelry

Choosing your jewelry is no different than choosing your wardrobe. Most important is to stick within your comfort zone and your personal fashion style.

That said it never hurts to step out of the box once in awhile. What's most important is that your jewelry matches up with your outfit. Your jewelry is the finishing touch on your total look. Make your fashion statement count!

You need to determine what you want your jewelry to do. Do you want it front and center stage? Do you want it to compliment? Do you want it subtle? The occasion or event you'll be wearing your jewelry to is also important - make certain it is fitting. A sexy oversized choker might be perfect for a night on the town but may not be fitting for the boardroom.

Although you may have a favorite designer. There's really no need to stick with just one designer. In fact there's no need for the pieces to actually be designer.

There are plenty of wonderful pieces on the market that are unsigned but certainly make a fashion statement. Mix and match your jewelry to give it character and a little pizzaz!

Costume Jewelry, both signed and unsigned, is an affordable way to complete your look. Costume Jewelry can be bought for a low price and has plenty of life. Heck we see costume jewelry back to the 1920s still in excellent condition.

What's great with costume jewelry is you can use it, get tired of it, put it away or give it away and have still gotten good value for your money.

Designer pieces tend to cost a little more, last a little longer, and they usually follow more traditional lines so you can wear them for more than one or two seasons.

Sterling Silver is affordable and very versatile. If you don't want to spend the mon
